Babies can spot the good, the bad and the ugly

6-month old babies can tell which blocks are helpful, and prefer them. Research from Yale University.

I think Block theatre is a nascent art form!

Cool experiment. They didn't demonstrate a baby judging "the ugly", though. Now that's a sight to see. Example: A kid sitting on his/her mother's hip at the grocery store while she's walking around, a really unpleasant looking person (there are lots of ways to be this) walks up and says "hi there, you're so CUTE!" to the baby...then the kid's face slowly molds into a look of terror followed by a look of pain then the tears flow. As a mother, all I could do was laugh when this happened to me, but the other person never got it. Hmmmm....

you know, just because the square was keeping the circle from coming up the hill does not mean that the square was a bad guy. Anybody think about the possibility that the circle and his accomplice (the triangle) are criminals trying to invade his home? That square has a lovely rectangle and 2 rhombi at home to protect.
