I don't think they are falling asleep, I think they are slipping into insulin comas based on what they are eating.

^ LOL. I was going to suggest tryptophan-induced sleep due to carbo-loading. Look at how many of these moms/dads/disembodied hands keep stuffing food into their kid's faces while they are half-asleep.
