Jerry Lawler slaps the s*** out of Andy on Letterman's show. Andy, politely, tells him he didn't appreciate it.

This is a classic, and brilliantly staged as well!

While I don't know if anyone knew for sure, (Andy was so unpredictable), it's almost certainly a set-up. His apology to the TV crowd is the biggest clue.

I believe Lawler eventually fessed up that the whole thing was a put on after Andy died. Some say that Andy didn't die and is now posing as outrageous television pundit Ayn Coulter.

Yes, I think Lawler revealed after Kaufman's disappearance that the whole thing was a big set-up.
