An Hour with John Burns

A frank and pragmatic view of Iraq given by John Burns of the New York Times. By far the most informative view of the major groups, there leaders, and the goals of these desperate groups.

An excellent read out of the military situation in Baghdad and an understanding of the insurgency forces and tactics. For anyone doubting such tactics should see the historical record via the tactics of the vietcong leading up to the Tết Offensive.

I recommend people watch this.

John Burns is a regular guest on the Charlie Rose show. You can tell by his hair how the war is going---the hair and beard looked like a hot mess when he was on the show a few weeks ago.

A warning to Repubs in the group: Burns does work for the NYT so you should probably refuse to listen to him lest you get indoctrinated by liberofascism.

See. Now, I am, generally, anti-war (what sensible person wouldn't be?).

But this one of very precious few times I've heard a frank, sensible argument advocating a greater US presence that didn't stink of corruption, self-interest, and gung-ho warmongering thanks to gratuitous use of nonsensical rhetoric to explain the problem and justify the actions. There has been an infuriating deficiency of such analysis; this interview offers some insight to a perspective that has been heretofore ill-served by idiotic propaganda.

This is a rare hearing of a decent explanation of some sensible reasons that the current administration and military thinkers might think a troop surge will make a real difference....or that it's worth it. Many shades of grey here---as one would expect.

WTF is publicized analysis like this so rare? There is definitely a positive dearth of this stuff, as evidenced by Rose's zeal and inquisitiveness.

Wish I had two votes for this one. 4 days and 4 votes? what???

i really wish you would. i thought just like bigbikeman did. The questions and idea's arent about sides or war yes or no. Its just the honest truth and that can be hard to find most of the time. No one gains anything from the general up down yes no answers on this.

2,000,000 Iraqi refugees.

650,000+ dead as a result of our crappy occupation.

Does it really need to be any clearer than that?

Iraq is fucked. There is no un-fucking it.

The worst part about it all, is that the anti-war crowd knew about this years ago, and yet, when the war fails, we will be the ones that the cons blame.
