Well, choggie, there's always the Golden Gate Bridge, you know, for jumping....

It would be funny, if it weren't so revolting, the way conservatives talk about "America" and "society" and "our economy."

Every time they use those words, they only mean what applies to, and agrees with, their narrow, selfish points of view.

Free Trade Agreement is actually bad for foreign countries with weaker economies (keyword weaker), mainly because they cannot compete against America's cheaper prices. Cheaper cars, cheaper food & produce, cheaper basic material etc etc. Countries can no longer put taxes on foreign goods in order to protect their native business. Say, same amount of rice is being sold. The American one is cheaper, and quality is just as good. While regionally growned ones cost more because they're not from gigantic farms like they have in America.

Now, if American products don't compete directly against native business, it would be fine. But when it comes to FOOD, America just dominates the market with its quality and price, meaning death to local food business. It all comes down to what you can sell back to America in return. After all, you're not made of money. And that's determined by the power of your own national economy and what you can offer that America doesn't already have?

You can argue that that's how capitalism works, and they gotta match the competition. And their citizens would be able to buy more numerous things lot cheaper after the FTA. Well... it also means decimating regional economy and basically making the whole country as a modern economy colony, then yea. You guys remember why those New Englanders dumped all those tea in Boston Harbor? *Wink Wink*

So I don't know what to say here. FTA will be good for American business because it will widen its market, hence more people to buy our goods. There's no doubt about that. So my question is, how much of that wealth would actually transpire down to your regular American Joe, and how much economic damage will this inflict upon the weaker foreign country?
