Alvin Toffler dies @ 87 (Future Shock author)

Yupp, that's it, move along.

Future Shock, published in 1970, is an amazing prescient work, predicting cultural and social shifts due to rapidly emerging technologies...decades before those technologies hit the market.

As a child of the 70's I learned of this in college and am still blown away by his ideas. He wrote in 1980 & 1990, as well, "Third Wave" and "Power Shift", respectively, also great.

Well-known Tofflerisms:
- Change is the only constant.
-Technology feeds on itself. technology makes more technology possible.
-the Law of Raspberry Jam: the wider any culture is spread, the thinner it gets.
-It is better to err on the side of daring than the side of caution.
-Parenthood remains the greatest single preserve of the amateur.
