A follow-up video to: Red Bull Air Race - Mega-save!

"This is Matt Hall at the qualifying day—June 5th—of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship 2010 race in Windsor, Ontario. Matt touched the water after turning on one of the pylons. It looked like it was going to be a fatal crash, but he used his amazing skills to miraculously recover from the accident. It really doesn't get more scary than this."

"but he used his amazing skills to miraculously recover from the accident."

Well actually the recovery would have been pretty intuitive especially to a sessoin piolot.

and if he was so skilled he wouldn't have fluffed it in the first place It was piolot error that cused the incedent , If it was wind or something exsternal cusing the error then it might have been impresive to recover. as it was he fucked up and did what pritty much all the redbull piolots would have done , level out and pullup

^ Adilson Kindleman was in a similar situation, but with more height to maneuver with (as far as i can tell). he ended up in the drink so i don't think it's anywhere near as routine as you're making out.

as you say he was in a different siltation and having more hight might bet a negligible advantage.

the fact is in both situations the only thing they can do is level out and pull up as much as possible before pulling up would contribute to the stall.

its not a situation that requires a huge degree of skill you will allso probably find that the reaction times of all these piolots is going to be incredably close and thats realy what this sort of situatoin comes down to .

the thing with flying is the skill is largely based on practise and remaing calm (as aposed to reacting to a highly verable situation) and with all these pilots been veteran formation/military pilots its something all of them will have in abundance.

Its like how everyone makes out that that hudon poloit was some sort of genouse pro skill flyer , when in actual fact he was probably no more or less skilled than you avrage exsperanced pilot , and most pilots could have quite easily done what he did , it was more a case of bing calm and professional which arguably is a skill in itself but I think most pilots generally have that as they go into training mode rather than panic mode.
