New World Record for the standing mile was set at 255.7 MPH.

Sean Kennedy driving Mark Heidaker's twin-turbocharged Ford GT sets a new world record for the fastest trap speed at the end of a standing mile. Crazy power and insane acceleration. This car is doing over 204 MPH at the half-mile mark which is as fast as a Bugatti Veyron at the end of a full mile! Surprisingly, this car competes in the Street Legal class!

They're hoping to break 260 next time out.

I've maxed out my Google powers and can't find the car's ET for the mile, but going by the video seems to be around 16.5 seconds. Crazy.

Crikey, 414.7kph. It didn't sound fast in mph, but was really flying.

Hmmm where does this mention a world record? all i could see is some sort of certificate issued by the owner of the race track. wouldn't a world record need proof by i don't know FIA, Guiness World Records ony similar?
