1939 World's Fair Exhibit, the futuristic world of 1960

This exhibit from the Worlds Fair in New York City glimpses in the futuristic World of Tomorrow aka 1960 (!), and shares ideas on the future of farming and transportation. Farms will have individual glass housing and there will be seven-lane motorways with speeds of 50, 75, and 100 miles per hour. Part 1 of two parts.

Oh, praise Jesus that I don't live in the State of Virginia. Though I did live through portions of the Big Dig in Boston. *shudder

When you call a structure that was supposed to promote traffic efficiency a "mixing bowl", something has gone horribly, horribly wrong from an engineering perspective.

Great post. I am still always on the lookout for something great about the White City.
