You know, the biggest difference between stupid white Americans and stupid brown Americans? The brown Americans turn their stupidity in on themselves with guns, knives, and cans of spray paint. Half of those videos cannot be played on Videosift because they're either snuff or gang violence. There are sites for those videos, however.

Not to say it's only brown Americans doing this type of stupid shit, but no white people I know are even allowed to join in on those reindeer games. We're ostracized in the community and so we stay off the streets. If I walk in a park near my house, I'm a creepy white dude. Just saying.

So I figure white stupidity gets fanned out via video submission / public humiliation and brown stupidity kills itself off or gets thrown in jail, effectively removing the stupid on both fronts. I prefer so-called "white" stupidity, at least it's fun and hilarious.

This video was far more useful and educational than the inevitable footage of sh1tsta1ns "protesting" at the upcoming political conventions. Millions wasted in security and police overtime so hordes of gimme-gimmes can find an excuse to riot.

In this case, I stand by "it has nothing to do with race". In the equivalent situation (Baltimore, black thugs/gang, drunk victim) put a black person in the victim's place and nothing changes. Actually, they may have killed/maimed the black victim. The white dude got off light, for Baltimore.

Anyway, they don't scream racial epithets. There is no evidence he was targeted due to being white.

I say the Zimmerman case is about race because of Zimmerman's history of profiling black males as criminals. Even the black neighbor who praised Zimmerman said he was uncomfortable walking in his own neighborhood because of the profiling. That's pretty damning in itself.

I say it's about race because Zimmerman's only rationale for pursuing Martin with a loaded gun was his appearance.

I say it's about race, because Zimmerman on the 911 call called Martin a "coon".

I say it's about race due to the (in)actions of the police:
-A homicide goes down and the admitted killer is let go after a couple of hours due to his word in the absence of video or consistent eyewitness accounts? No thorough investigation while they held him? When have you ever heard of that happening? I have black friends who have been wrongly held for days on much less serious allegations.

-The victim, a young teenager, is not identified for days. On that night, the police didn't even canvas the community he was walking in to find out who he was. Can you imagine that happening to any of your teenage friends/relatives? I would think anyone would assume a normal teenager would have concerned parents worried about his absence. And at least look in the most likely place for the parents: the immediate neighborhood.

-They've corrupted the chain of evidence so much, the case had to be taken out of their hands

-This department has a history of mistreating blacks

On the other video, you said: "This crime has nothing to do with race."
"Nothing to do with race" seems to be going a bit far, but the general argument could be reasonable.
If we believed in those standards, we'd apply them to the Trayvon Martin case.
We'd say the critical factors in Martin's case weren't about race, because Zimmerman's black neighbor said he'd have done the same thing, and any teenager who presents himself to the world as being part of gang culture would have a problem in a gated community that's having a problem with crime.

His race has nothing to do with his victimization. There are some hard white dudes in Baltimore that would not have been touched by this crowd of cowards. As I said, a soft target in Baltimore will be victimized, and most of 'em (the victims of crime in Baltimore) are black.

It comes down to privilege. A dude who has experienced pop culture produced by men, catered to men, and starring men for as long as he can remember will see female leads, female-produced movies, etc. as a threat. It means they might be losing their privileged position (even though it's really still just a drop in the bucket).

And losing privilege is SUPER scary because it means that at some point these dudes might have to actually compete on their merits. I don't mean compete for anything specifically, just that all the power, privilege, opportunity, etc., in our society have been given to dudes (especially white dudes), for so long just because they're (white) dudes. If things changed and these guys actually had to get ahead by working hard and being decent human beings, a lot of them would be screwed.

At least that's how I see it. The movie looks rad.

One vote proves groupthink? Seriously?

I can show you votes where a majority of any particular group votes one way. On that particular election, there are other explanations: 1) the mormons heavily canvassed black communities, while the opponents of the measure took it for granted blacks would vote for their issue. 2) the rampant anti-black racism present in many pockets of the gay community in California.

On your link, I could pick out the qualities on that list and apply them to any given ethnic group, if I were to use stereotyping and conjecture, as you have done.

Race is a social construct, with real consequences for the people put in a group by society. Blackness in America is defined by appearance and the "one drop rule". Blackness is also defined by a shared culture and history, especially due to the forced isolation of black americans over the years. Given that, for you to flippantly say that blackness doesn't even exist (and to imply that by extension anti-black messages and bigotry similarly don't exist) is absurd and kind of arrogant.

All that said, the black american community still has a rainbow of perspectives, political views, religious views, aesthetic tastes, etc, that belies the premise of this video.
