Visual effects were awful. So disappointed. Was hoping for a more realistic look of physical effects as mostly used by the trailer - just like the first (and mostly second) movie.

Also even the reverb effect on the audio for his voice seemed to be entirely inappropriate for a venue of that size.

The way they throw money at a greenscreen to avoid having to actually film stuff. I'm sure the animators are working very hard and are extremely good at what they do, but all impressiveness of a special effect is lost for me when it's computer rendered. They're over relying on green screening to such a ridiculous degree, even in areas where it's completely unnecessary, that it totally breaks my immersion.
Also, I'm pretty sure they could do this scene with practical effects if they at all cared about the art of film making. The physical restrictions of actors and effects were one of the reasons film makers had to be innventive, which did lead to interestingly shot scenes.

I'm sure they'd do it all practically if it were possible, affordable and safe. Not much of this scene is.

Yes, this is the Stargate Studio reel edited with new music.
Stargate Studios are my homeboys, I live a few blocks from their offices. Check out their site for more behind the scenes shots.

could have sworn this was a dupe, but it actually just has a lot of the same scenes from this sift: http://videosift.com/video/Green-Screen-What-you-see-is-an-illusion

It's fascinating stuff, and its obvious they've got themselves a good string of work there from the studios. Their pure VFX work is less impressive than the 'virtual backlot' stuff though, it has to be said... which I guess demonstrates that it's a lot harder to convincingly add in fire, destruction, moving elements. Adding in, effectively, digital matt paintings (that move and change perspective, but still), is a lot easier job.

But they do good work... good work.

I would imagine they work on tiny budgets and ridiculous timeframes with those shows.

I agree with you completely hpqp, the visual effects were stunning...my favorite was when dad was standing at the window with the windmill blades going by.
I'm glad you enjoyed it too, sharing my finds is half of the fun of watching!

And thank you for the translation! It wasn't needed to get the story across, but I was very curious.

Incredibly beautiful, both visually and auditively.
Once again you find another cinematic pearl, @AdrianBlack, thank you so much!

Dialogue:
girl: We still have enough time to leave.
man: I am staying with your mother. Leave without us. Go away.
girl: I don't want to leave without you.

Were you using iframe? If so, then don't use that. Use the old embed code option and try again.

Should be the old embed code....

Verifying its code seems OK, but can't preview it on my side, but trying here. http://pastie.org/2326233 for the codes.
