Trailer for the new A-Team movie

UFC 107: Kenny Florian vs Clay Guida

xxovercastxx says...

I was just looking at the salaries for UFC 106 and the lowest payout was $6,000 to Jacob Volkmann and that was for losing! At the other end of the spectrum is Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz who each got $250,000.

I'll never understand what gets people to participate in stuff like this, but it can be very entertaining to watch. Bloody mess by the end.

Kenny Florian probably took home in between 150,000 USD - 300,000 USD for this victory.
That's based on the numbers for his last comparable fight, which were 40k for base-pay and 40k for win bonus (source), and sponsorship deals are probably another couple 100k.

Mike Tyson and Bob Sapp, square off

xxovercastxx says...

This is K1, not UFC. Sapp never fought in UFC.

This fight was largely ready to go, with K1 rules where Sapp had a small chance of winning, but Tyson's felon status kept him from getting to the Japanese venue.

Here's a rutube embed. It's a little slow to buffer but it probably won't disappear on you.

Spinning Kick to the Head = Instant Knockout

That guy did not look like he was okay.

Not many people do when they're knocked unconscious. =)

At a recent UFC event Chris Leben got choked out, leaving him unconscious and convulsing on the octagon floor. Ninety seconds later he was walking around like normal, though fairly pissed off that he had lost. The knockout here was a little more severe, but it's still safer than boxing.

This isn't a reflection of the mindset within the UFC, it's an example of "Rampage" Jackson. He's always been that way and it seems to work for him (and his fans).
You could just as easily look up Lyoto Machida or Rich Franklin and use them as evidence that the UFC is very positive and respectful. Just like most sports, there will be a mixture of wonderful people and idiots.

Yeah, I know plenty of fine upstanding gentlemen that beat the shit out of each other on a regular basis.

Regardless of the presentation there's nothing "positive and respectful" about sanctioned violent behavior.
