Piracy is to large parts a service problem after all. Why do you think Game of Thrones is the most pirated TV show? It wouldn't have been if it was available for purchase right after the broadcast.
I'm currently enjoying Hannibal on iTunes. I have to wait two or three days after an episode aired and I can download and watch it. I paid for it and I love it.
I like True Blood too. I really want to watch Season 6. There is no HBO available where I live. Do I wait till May next year, when it will be legally available for the first time? Do I?
Same here, people will pay if you let them. Not all but many.

EDIT: I'm very disappointed it's "sweat" and not "slut". I just like them very much.

I read this in a book somewhere: the Sesame Street staff are constantly doing focus studies with real kids, measuring things like how long they watch before getting distracted, what they focus on when watching, what they remember after watching, etc. and one of the things that came out of their studies was that kids pay more attention and learn more if an adult is watching the show with them. But in order for an adult to sit through an entire show with a child, the adult also has to be entertained as well. Hence the pop-culture references (including stuff kids most likely have never seen).

Pixar does a great job with their movies along these lines as well by providing jokes only adults are likely to get mixed in with the more slap-stick stuff for the kids.

LOL. No really I just don't like horror movies. I remember watching "Fright Night" when I was 15 on VHS. It was an ordeal.

I really love the Aliens movies, they're the exception.

1 more thing, I had so many nightmares after watching "True blood" i had to stop watching.

anyway.... I like Jeffery Combs just because I love Weyun from star trek, and I thought that video was really campy!

Soooooo, the 'Battleship' name is there PURELY for marketing... The movie gets a way to get exposure, and Hasbro get to release battleship games with movie tie in packaging... hurray.

And exactly how many of the cast of True Blood are in this? I count 2 in the trailer.
