Best Fails of the Week 4 June 2013

poolcleaner says...

You know, the biggest difference between stupid white Americans and stupid brown Americans? The brown Americans turn their stupidity in on themselves with guns, knives, and cans of spray paint. Half of those videos cannot be played on Videosift because they're either snuff or gang violence. There are sites for those videos, however.

Not to say it's only brown Americans doing this type of stupid shit, but no white people I know are even allowed to join in on those reindeer games. We're ostracized in the community and so we stay off the streets. If I walk in a park near my house, I'm a creepy white dude. Just saying.

So I figure white stupidity gets fanned out via video submission / public humiliation and brown stupidity kills itself off or gets thrown in jail, effectively removing the stupid on both fronts. I prefer so-called "white" stupidity, at least it's fun and hilarious.

Ahhhhh, human tragedy...

Thank god most of them are American white people-At the very least my faith in humanity's ability to purge the water bugs from her own pool may remain steadfast for the foreseeable future....

*edit after comment down-vote:

So.....You got a problem with someone whose consistent comment theme suggests that he can't stand most American white folks because of the colour of their mettle? American whites are becoming increasingly and exponentially irresponsible, immoral, and ignorant and and I'm supposed to giggle and point at the developmentally-disabled of my clan?
Fuck that noise, crackers need to pull their collective heads outta their own asses.

You know, here in Melbourne, if we want to ride on a tram for free, we just get on it.

Only those from out of town pay to travel on trams here!

(And are we sure they're sniffing glue? Could be huffing spray paint)

How to Troll A Bomb Squad

SO... FUCKING... FAKE.
Where to start?
-The obviously not cop/military van.
-The obviously shitty looking bomb disposal robot (this seems to be in israel. They probably have the best bomb disposal robots on the planet. That looks like someone took an RC car and attached an airsoft shotgun to the front, and one of those fake surveillance cams on the top.
-The paint cans which somehow managed to spray paint the whole bus stop with a single shot, precisely when the camera points down.
-The fact that they were standing, no more than 20/30 meters from a potential bomb, and the cop? somehow seems to think that's enough.
etc.. etc..
edit: after a second viewing, even the shotgun fire is completely fake and digital.

- didn't see a problem with distance or the cops behaviour, to me, the fact that the camera man ducked and missed the actual explosion shows that he was genuinly afraid.

the camraman was in on the "prank," so he had no reason to duck away. that's what gave it away for me.

Doesn't look fake to me, I live in Jerusalem and have witnessed more than a few "Bag frags". The van is equipped with surveillance gear and is meant to look like an average van.
- The shity robot is shity indeed, but real, did you expect a huge Mech?
- The robot fires bursts of rounds to make sure it doesn't miss areas in the bag itself, not single shots
- didn't see a problem with distance or the cops behaviour, to me, the fact that the camera man ducked and missed the actual explosion shows that he was genuinly afraid.

you forgot to hit the sarcasm button. the fact that you think the ducking at the end was genuine fear is hilarious. they did that so they wouldn't have to do a complete computer-generated explosion, because it would have looked just as fake as the paint and smoke does when he brings the camera back up. christ, just look at the muzzle flash at 0:54.

The paint is going in the wrong direction! The shot gun would have pierced the side of the can facing it. If enough of the bag was actually shredded enough then the target that would have got spray painted would be the robot, not the bus stop. Also I imagine a shot gun to a spray paint can would yield a fire bomb, not a paint bomb.

Fake was my first reaction as well.
I've never seen spray paint get such great coverage before.
(even on the fence behind the glass backing of the bus stop)

Also, the paint starts out with huge drips down the glass, which don't continue to drip once the camera is on it.
If they dripped that far, that quickly, they'd still be dripping once the camera was back on them.

A fun project of Photoshopping this is.

How to fix an SLR with Peanut Butter

rebuilder says...

It would probably be a good idea to spray paint the part black before installing to avoid flaring.

Personally I'd go on thingiverse.com to see if someone's already made a lens hood:
http://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=lens+hood&sa=Search
and print it out. But then I have a Makerbot and when you have a 3d printer, every problem is plastic waiting to be put in the right shape...

In any case, makeshift solutions are very cool. Realizing you're able to solve a lot of problems yourself is very empowering, and usually fixing stuff isn't hard at all. Case in point, a while ago I dropped my camera, too, and the shutter button got stuck in the focus position. Olympus gave me a repair quote that came to about half the price of a new camera, so I thought I'd take a chance and see if I can fix it myself. All it took was undoing some screws, googling around a bit to see how to take some of the less obvious parts off, and presto, the button was unstuck and I saved a nice bit of cash.
