Ever Notice Nathan Fillion in Saving Private Ryan?

Germans in the Woods

Wingoguy says...

I sincerely hope the closest I ever have to get to war is through the medium of computer games. But as lifelike as they get even they don't bring the reality of it home, especially compared to the likes of Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers, and the first hand testimony of someone who was there tops the list. It's the politicians that send people to war, but it's the soldiers that have to deal with the humanity of it. If only the decision makers were the ones we send to fight, they might not be so keen...

If you want to do something about this, and think it will help, vote more veterans into office.

New technique to make shaky cam videos stable

krelokk says...

I always laugh at people that can't tell the difference between shaky cam and handheld.

I love handheld in films. It creates a sense of reality and immersion that I think is great. Children of Men is a great example. Saving Private Ryan overall as well. Well composed shots that are simply handheld. Many films have had handheld shots over the years. Alien part 1 had a good number of handheld shots in it. Aliens as well. A bazzilion other films.

This is different from shaky zoomy crazyness. Paul Greengrass and others do tend to use a lot of long lens shakyness that can be a tad overboard. Michael Bay transformers action as well.

No one seems to understand this now though. Everyone jumps on the "i hate shakycam" wagon the moment they see a handheld shot. I don't want handheld to go away.

World In Conflict Soviet Assault Soviet Strength (Awesome!)

Nice Saving Private Ryan jerky-cam cinematography and well acted voice-overs (for a change).
Unfortunately this says nothing about the game except they are willing to spend big for quality cinematics.

Aha - well this is all from the ingame engine (ingame cinematics) The game itself is a multiplayer game, with a single player mode setting the story - Soviet Assault extends this with the story from the Russians perspective as well as...bah, just go here at Massgate!

this is a preview of the Norway map

It's a fun game If you like the idea of an RTS with less base building and more unit control and tactics - you will like

Generation Kill : The Best Scenes

Edit: Any one know where a dude with out HBO can get this?

One that I would like to teach the sniper (actor) is that when you recite the Daimoku, the mantra should not be stopped or paused at any point only to take a breath.

(Not sure if it was the spotter or the shooter reciting)

It just seemed like a ripp off of the saving private ryan sniper prayer. The actor was not comfortable with the Daimoku, or whoever taught him taught him a bastard american version.

When I do sword suburi or practice drawing my side arm, I never break rhythm.

These things should become muscle memory. If you have time to think, you have time to die.

Saving Private Ryan mixed with Pink Floyd's Sheep

QuadraPixel says...

This combo of both the video and song really helps put them both back into perspective; adds emotion past what the either could do alone. I try to watch Saving Private Ryan every D-Day to help me respect what those before me have done to protect our freedoms.
