"Game Theory" in British Game Show is Tense!

dannym3141 says...

Hang on, before anything happens...... This seems dangerous. If someone had just stolen 50 thousand quid off me, i'd go fucking MENTAL at them. On camera, whatever, i'd be swearing my head off, ranting my head off. I dunno how close i'd be to wrecking the set either.

Dangerous quiz show!

Edit: OH. MY. GOD. I'm speechless about what she did there. Was it worth it? REALLY? She looked as devastated as he did. If i was here, i'd have just given him half. The amount of money involved wouldn't even come into question; i'm sorry, you can have half.

Yes, quite possible. I'd love to make it more sweden-y, but i don't know enough. And what I was missing were options to increase spending for education, for example.

What's your opinion about Australia's remnants of monarchy?

This must be the first time that one has been blocked for me but not for you

Well I only have to look to the U.S. to see how lucky we are here! I could quibble with one or two things, but they're little things like people tinkering with their own consoles being treated as criminals... not big things like the country being on the verge of bankruptcy

Your choices on the quiz appear to be aimed at making each choice to be as close to your own country's policy as possible, right? I think I have probably done the same.
In reply to this comment by DerHasisttot:
Thanks! For me, it's not blocked. I've thrown my two cents in the discussion :-)

How are politics in Australia at the moment? Anything you'd like to see changed?

Smart young girl on the Bible and religion

MaxWilder says...

What I mean is that I don't really believe you. I've spoken to many atheists who claimed to be ex christians but then myteriously didn't seem to know anything about it, like you. I've had atheists tell me they were ex pastors but didn't know any verses. It's a common trick from dishonest people to have that talking point. My point still stands.

So you won't take me seriously until I've passed some sort of Bible quiz?

Well, then, we're even. Because there is no way in hell I'm going to believe you really talked to Jesus and he told you all the secrets of the universe in person.

And I simply will never understand why you encourage people to believe without a shred of evidence the exact thing that you didn't believe until it was "proven" to you by the man Himself! If God wants me to believe, He can show me the same way He showed you. Until then, you are nothing to me but a hallucinating, logic-defying, Bible-thumping nutjob.

Glad we got that cleared up.

Pop quiz, hotshot. You're leading the Indy 500 at the 499.8 mile mark, you come up behind a back-marker on the final turn....What do you do? What do you do?

I make you read every article in that magazine, including Norman Mailer's latest claptrap about his waning libido.

Stephen Fry Live At The Sydney Opera House

vaporlock says...

Here some more info copied from it dupe:

"From YT: A great English icon visited an Aussie one when Stephen Fry came to the Sydney Opera House to discuss travel, language, the three W's (Wilde, Waugh and Wodehouse) and everything in between, in a 90 minute talk-fest. The night involved a cracking 45 minute chat by Fry and then a 45 minute Q&A with First Tuesday Book Club's Jennifer Byrne.

A true polymath and the epitome of a Renaissance Man, Stephen Fry is a natural treasure in his native land of England. A writer, presenter, social commentator, satirist, actor and TV personality, Fry's diverse interests and enthusiasms have seen him become one of a small handful of global cultural figures who have a significant presence in every form of media; radio, TV, film, print and online.

Better known for playing the lead in the film Wilde, Fry was Melchett in the Blackadder television series and is the host of the ABC TV quiz show, QI. He also presented the television series Stephen Fry In America, which saw him travelling across all 50 U.S. States in a London cab.

Apart from his work in television, Fry has contributed columns and articles for newspapers and magazines, and has written four novels and an autobiography, Moab Is My Washpot and appears frequently on BBC Radio.

Fry wields considerable influence through his use of the social networking site Twitter and is frequently asked to promote various charities and causes, often inadvertently causing the host website to crash due to the sheer volume of traffic generated by his large number of followers."

Here, play this game because it exists: http://quiz.ravenblack.net/blood.pl?biter=Nithindul

Become a vampire and together we will rule the grid -- the evil grid!

In reply to this comment by flechette:
As far as the very last comment he makes in the video go there's a site called metroid2002 that is devoted to people spending way too much time playing Super Metroid who try to find ways to collect 100% of the items in said game as fast as they can. Someone out there has been late to work because they thought to themselves "If I can just figure out how to get all the items faster, I will have made a difference in the world." Really? In that you made a post on a gaming site? No, in that you exist, you interacted with your existence, and THAT is what life is.

This is a great summary of what WoW was like in vanilla compared to what it's like now, and people will play it simply because it exists. Like they do. That's the only reason people need to play ANY game.

You cannot play a game that doesn't exist. So if the game exists, why does it matter what people play it for? They play it because to them it's part of their life!

QI - Are you pleased to see me?

Deano says...

You're right he's bloody awful. Jupitus is a smart, quick-witted guy but he just isn't very funny. He was on Radio 4's The News Quiz (he's a regular on all the BBC panel shows) and even with a script there's nothing there. I cringe whenever he's on. Without a BBC contract I have no idea who would hire him.

Is it just me or is the fat guy painfully unfunny? Every time his in a clip, my enjoyment reduces.

What Americans Do and Don't Know About Religion

TheFreak says...

What impressed me most about the results broken down by belief, was how little evangelical christians know about the laws concerning religion in school. Given all the complaining they do on the matter you'd think they might at least have taken the time to learn what they were complaining about.

But I suspect that gets right to the root of the problem. An important part of religion is following on faith and conforming to your community. If the leaders of your community misinform you on a topic then it would be almost heretical for you to educate yourself to the point of doubting what you're being told. Even if the misinformation concerns strict verifiable facts.

Oh...and Atheist, 13/15. I made sure to take the quiz before watching the video. Expected the questions to be more tricky than that.
I'm also thinking Jewish people should think about moving their sabath considering how many people got that one wrong.
