Although I'm glad a brutal cop was finally charged, he's still getting preferential treatment.

Incredible! Plane crash video from inside cockpit

Regardless of whether this is real or not. I think the people filming are probably douche bags who refuse to put their camera down regardless of what's happening like in that horrible movie Clover field. I haven't experienced surviving a plan crash, but I sure do hope that if that does happen, peopele's priority would be to do something about the injured, and not filming their ugly mugs.

I agree completely. Everything visual looks real, but the peoples behavior is very suspicious.

Customer at Internet Cafe Shoots Two Robbers

bareboards2 says...

Chasing after and shooting people in the back shows the mentality of some of those who carry guns for "protection." It isn't about protection, it is about punishment.

Not all concealed carry permit holders are like this. My dad, at age 79, was mugged in his rural Oklahoma front yard. They hit him in the face with a metal object and he went down, but not out. He didn't have his gun on him. His assailants were unarmed, except for the metal object and the threat of violence. I asked him later if he would have shot them, and he said, "probably not." He knows the difference between force and deadly force. He also knows the power of a gun pointed at you.

This guy was probably justified in making the first shot -- he had the element of surprise and the pistols, fake or not, were pointed at innocent people. I contend that as soon as they started running, that was the time to take a protective stance in front of the other patrons and STOP SHOOTING.

Punishment, not protection.

Seriously, you should realize that you have a problem, when your skin is the colour of an over-cooked ham.

If you look around, you can find other pictures of her that are drastically different. There are photos of her at her court appearance, and her mug shot that have a totally different color.

This looks like a spray-on tan, possibly overdone on purpose to make for a more spectacular broadcast.

It's easy to make spectacular claims, if you don't need muchany evidence.

What to do when a girl won't give you her phone number

Right, it's worth noting that the range of violence displayed by sub-cultures is the same, but are you saying that the averages are the same as well?

This came up in another thread as well, so let's look at the averages (as opposed to anecdotes).

In the US, people might guess that, per capita, a black person is 50% or 100% more likely to kill a white or latino person than the other way around. But the actual number appears to be much higher at 1200%.

According to the FBI's most recent statistics, where available, twice as many whites/latinos are killed by blacks, numerically, as blacks by whites/latinos in the U.S. In 2010 (where reported), the murder numbers were 447 vs 218. This means, statistically, that a black person is over 100% more likely to kill a white/latino person than the other way around.

To get per capita statistics (murders per race as percentage of population ratio), we take into account the differences sizes of the populations:
• 447 murders / 12.6 of US pop. = 35.5 per capita black on white/latino murders.
• 218 murders / 72.4 of US pop. = 3.0 per capita white/latino on black murders.
That means that an individual member of the black community is 1200% (35.5 / 3) more likely to murder a white/latino person than the other way around.

The article I linked to above mentioned that ghetto thugs target Asian Americans for muggings, so it's worth noting that, since asians have even lower crime rates than whites or latinos, that 1200% ratio would be even higher for the black / asian ratios.

The Making of the "Jive Talk" Scenes in Airplane

conan says...

Well, at least in the old world there are various ways: scandinivian countries to my knowledge only use subtitles, france and germany both have very sophisticated Voice over industries. The example above aside it is very hard to spot if a Movie was voiced over in German because the speakers do an incredible Job of matching their words and pronounciation to the lip movements of actors. You actually can make a Good living as Voice over Artist. Especially the voices of Big stars can go into advertising etc (Bruce willis' Voice Guy does that a Lot). Really funny are Voice overs in eastern Europe countries, you can often find Movies where One Single speaker does all the voices without Even trying to make them Sound different :-)

>> ^dag:

That's really interesting. Would be curious how other languages handled it.>> ^conan:
as you might or might not know: in germany movies don't get subtitles but instead get a voiceover. naturally, this brings along some problems when there's play with languages such as in this case. "Airplane!" is a great example of how translators deal with this.
Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEkI0cH_rK4
So what they did is they let the two guys speak in a very thick, bavarian accent. bavaria is a region in south-east germany that's pretty much your cliche germany. beer for breakfast, sausages, huge 34oz beer mugs, castles, bretzel, leather shorts etc. it doesn't get more "german" than bavaria. there's certainly a racist touch to it (at least in my eyes because the "joke" depends on the audiences disbelief / surprise of a black person being a "real" bavarian) but i thought it's a good example of voice over strangenesses.
EDIT: link to a better clip
