LOST In 3 Minutes, Explained on Post-Its.

At its core yes, but aside from the last 20 minutes of the finale, noone knew it was religious crap. I watched it and was still always hoping it was aliens. Man did they fool me!

So at the core... Lost = Religious Bullshit
Glad I didn't watch it.

A lot of US produced (audience targeted) entertainment digresses to some spiritual nonsense. The film '9' for example had a highly interesting concept. It could have been FAR better, but in the end it just digressed to silly religious bunk. They have a target audience.. and a majority of that audience believes in magic, demons under the ground, and flying humanoids in the sky. So it caters to their their need to define their simplistic dichotomous existence of good vs evil, white vs black, friend or enemy of Jesus. Many are incapable of seeing the world as it is.. gray, ill defined, and indiscriminately cruel.

Though I do admit, the fantasy themes around religious myth (of whatever sect it may be from) CAN make for some interesting fiction. Because, that is exactly what it is. Fiction.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Looks great, but having a humanoid shaped robot just seems like silly anthropomorphism- and out of touch with the current state of technology.

Asimo requires a semi-truck worth of support equipment and a crew of 10 to keep running - and something tells me he's not vacuum rated.

At first, you think this truck is driving out of the mud...

..cars have asses?

Want me to draw you a diagram?
Use your imagination.

..yes. yes i do.
Because while pondering that, more question arose. Like..
What ahem equipment would a transformer use to perform such a rape? Driveshaft? (appropriate i guess)
If cars and transformers share the same anatomy.. what happens to a transformer's ass when they transform?
(Assuming the back bumper is the ass, what occurs if a transformation displaces the bumper to someplace other then were a humanoids ass would be?)
I wonder..

Why are they speaking English?

Why are they humanoid with four limbs, two eyes and one mouth? Why do their faces make the same relative expressions as ours?
Why is there an obvious 2 sex separation?
If their atmosphere is unbreathable (as implied by his mask when he gets off the dropship), why is everything except their skin (trees, etc.) the same color as it would be on earth? For that matter, why would gunpowder combust the same way?
Why does their gravity seem to be different yet it's still holding them on the planet in the same way?
If this is the future, why is everyone speaking an english dialect from the turn of the 21st century?
Why are the aliens three-dimensional? Why not four? Aren't they in fact natives and not aliens at all since the story takes place on their planet?
Why do they even communicate with sound? Why not smell?
WTF WAS THAT? A blue tiger?!? Ahhh!!! RUN!!!!!!!

In 50 years, it's possible that hunger, shelter and energy become self-sustaining or so cheap that no one will go without basic necessities.

In one or two more centuries, if nanotechnology fulfills its prophecies, the average joe will be able to manufacture practically anything--fuel, food, shelter and weapons--by himself with his "nano-oven". There will probably also be humanoid robots that can do all the manual labor (shitwork) even without self-aware, independent AI. What use will there be for governments then? Most of the federal government right now is IMO useless, and thus constantly trying to invent new, meddling ways (and manufactured crises) in order to stay relevant.

Eventually people will prefer to live in a viable Matrix and willingly trade their meatsack bodies for worlds of their design.

Pentagon Investigation Evidence Contradicts Official Story

Smugglarn says...

The truthers and movements like theirs are a pathetic attempt to project a false sense of understanding of events clearly beyond their intellectual grasp. It is obviously a defense mechanism for dealing with their own lack of knowledge of the world beyond their groups activities.

The notion that an often basement dwelling social outcast can uncover great conspiracies, and a deep understanding of the intricacies of centuries old conflicts thousands of miles away is ludicrous. Actual intelligence agencies attempt and often fail at this every day - and they have considerable resources in both manpower and technology.

The irony inherent in all these theories is the attempt to somehow remove the obvious foreign (and therefore unknown) influences in these events, and instead put all the blame in a supposedly omnipotent US government. In doing so they have created a rather flattering image of a super villain they can not defeat, thereby validating their continued struggle, and reassuringly know all about.

If their fantasies were real they would of course be jailed or dead. That is the case of all real dissidents of actual autocratic states.
Eventually this serves the lone purpose of maintaining a community of believers similar to that of a cult. By ascribing to these beliefs they gain access to a social construct often denied them earlier in life.

The group inflates the participants egos and and instills a confidence rarely felt before. That feeling is obviously precious to these people, much like jewelery to a cave dwelling humanoid featured, not surprisingly, in certain works which many of them hold as the pinnacle of literature. Therefore, one should not be surprised by the lengths to which these people will go in preaching their convictions. Their newly found social status depends on your acceptance of their inane rants.

What's the benefit of a single "robot brain" that must "migrate"? Why not have a central controller for all of the devices?
Is there some benefit to the illusion of the AI's physical confinement?

And most importantly, why on Earth would you model the humanoid representation after Carrot Top? Is that a deliberate attempt to stay on the far side of the uncanny valley?
