I've been waiting for this one. I have trust in del Toro. I know the studio was so impressed they started the script for the sequel. Hopefully if this does well he can do At the Mountains of Madness.

As much as I was excited to see Guillermo Del Toro's take on the Hobbit, and it would have been a spectacular visual treat, I am so happy that it's in Peter Jackson's hands.

He has a deft touch of the light hearted next to the gut wrenching and epic.

The man was born to make all of the Tolkien movies.

I will be doing my damndest to find a theatre that shows it in 48fps too, f*ck off all those who can't handle watching things at anything other than 24fps

I love Del Toro. His love of physical effects but lack of fear of digital. His measured answer to 3D movies... Hellboy.

He's just a great artist, and a genuine unique vision.

Instead of Peter Jackson? It might as well be George Lucas if someone other than Jackson were to take it on. Because if you're going to make a mistake, why not go full-retard?

Nah. Del Toro is a good director, but not a great one. Peter Jackson is the right man for the job.

I'm liking that they put a song into the trailer and fit it to that. The scenery and armor/costuming looks amazing as I ever could have dreamed.

Things I wish were so:
- I really wish that Guillermo Del Toro would have directed this instead of Peter Jackson. I really think he could have done a better job than PJ.
- Mr. Tolkien himself gave up on trying to make a version of The Hobbit a LOTR prequel, so I hope they don't get bogged down in that too much and try to stay true to the original story.
