DOOM - E3 2015 Gameplay Trailer

@Hawkinson
Agreed.

Amusing video, but I don't lament the fact games have evolved. There are many things a lot of games back then did wrong, but as kids we were more patient and willing to overlook them. However, I do wish sometimes games would more often take a few more cues from old games in their design. Bulletstorm and Resistance 3 were a breath of fresh air in a stale FPS genre.
Also, Hard Reset was not the game I was hoping it would be. It was clunky and very dull, a massive step back from the superb Painkiller.

I have to say I'm loving the oul Bulletstorm. Playing it till 9am this morning, endlessly kicking people into man-eating plants or onto cacti(?). Anyway, great fun and thats been missing from the endless line of modern warfare type shooters.

Don't know if any of this will help as I'm sitting in front of your PC, but might be worth a try.

actually i have you all beat in HATE 4 games 4 windows live.
I bought street fighter IV, for FULL Price... then I deleted the uninstall folder for Games for windows live. no big deal right?
REally big deal because I can't install the new version of "games for windows live" and I can't use any game that uses "games for windows live" all because "games for windows live" has to uninstall the old version but can't because.... and just .... makes me so sad.

Not a single word of hate for Games for Windows Live? Well I'll add it then.

You know when you've slept with one too many strippers and you get a surprise dosage of Chlamydia? That's what Games for Windows Live is. It's a pestulent boil on the otherwise fine, if large, ass of Bulletstorm. It even wanted me to register on XBOX live, even though I'm playing the PC game, presumably as a sex offender.

There is an UI designer that needs a serious whacking with a mouse. When I started the game for the first time, it said "Press Enter to continue" to the menu, I assumed, but when I did, I had to log into Games for Windows Live or burn in hell. So I did, found my login after some brain wracking and typed it all in. Then Games for Wünderkinds Live wanted to update. Alright, Games for Wonderbras Live, I'll play along. "Restart the game now?" But where? I was stuck back at the "Press Enter to Continue" screen in Bulletstorm, with no quit button. Oh, Pepic Can Fly, you dastardly UI Mavericks, I just have to press enter you say? "Plesae log in to Jims in Wanda Live to continue". "You cannot log in to Jims in Wanda Live right now, since it's being updated with more fucking chlamydia" Not only can I not get into the game and play, I can't get the hell out of it.

'Waiting till the end' is pretty mellow as well, no?

Yeah it is, but slightly more "quick paced". I know, it's not huge.

This is a fairly mellow album, especially compared to rock or rap (I don't think they've really ever been "in your face" musically, like "Soilwork" would be, for an example--great music to play with "Bulletstorm" ).

Zero Punctuation: Two Worlds II

I agree with dismissing magic, it was a very interesting system to screw with for quite a few levels, but once you know two magic schools the "hard" factor that was in the game initially (like forcing you, as a mage, to find high ground and develop some useful tactical spells) became a complete slaughter. Then if I summon 8 guys to defend me I might as well sit down until their timer wears out (summoning needed to be powerful, but with a much longer casting time, longer shelf life, and a "slot" system depending on what you summon).

Don't get me started on Earth magic being completely overpowered and buggy to hell and beyond.

The item system, while at first seems neat, but even by level ten you realize that every RPG I've ever played extended and amplified their item systems over time. In Two Worlds you can metallurgically upgrade it then add crystals/stones to it to enhance it. This would have allowed for an amazing system, but again they spent minimal time and effort doing it--so it sucks.

The A.I. is a mixed bag. They do well at first, but have HUGE clipping and line-of-sight issues (archers and mages are happy to stand behind a rock and shoot at you: hitting the rock. Then many enemies get stuck in planer or clipping joint areas that have small gaps and IT HAPPENS A LOT! Most engines have dealt with this issue in some form (as it's been ten plus years to learn how to stop them; programmers still screw it up; yes, I know the engine is complicated, but give me the same game on Crytek's engine and I'll be much happier)...

The trade skills are alright have a little promise with them at least starting in the right direction, but as you level up they become useless except for ones you can do on the fly (mostly, metallurgy and fusion).

The rest of what Yahtzee said is correct. The game is buggy. The multiplayer is a let down (where the hell is open roaming or campaign playthrough?) The spell system is terribly broken in some areas (I'm looking at you Fire and Earth) and weak in others: Necromancy or as I call it Necropansies--you're forced to learn another magic or you'll die, unless you really love summoning and waiting the required 5 minutes per fight for a MINOR fight... But, again, the spell card system with maybe Magickas combo system together would make spell-casting an AWESOME experience.

Anyway, I would only suggest this game if you desperately need an RPG to play. If you've yet to play Torchlight play that instead. Otherwise, get Bulletstorm as the comic value and writing (Duke Nukem type one-liners and more) make it worth buying alone.; I hope Duke can live up to this--if it has full Physics I think it will. BTW, the Unreal Engine sucks, bad... There are a lot of games I've liked on it and it looks pretty, but the physics and map abilities leaves A LOT to be desired, BUT it is also a good engine in the manner that it's easy to develop for and very flexible in what it can do (Deathspank is an excellent example; same with Dungeon Defenders on the iPad). At this point though it is by far more a console engine than a PC one.

/My two cents and review for Two Worlds II, with a small peppering of Unreal Engine talk that has nothing to do with the review...

Chain of Fools : Upgrading Through Every Version of Windows

I just wanted to know wh...oh who gives a shit it's 2011 and I'm playing Bulletstorm on Windows 7 with a 465GTX setup.

/The experiment was, pointless. And yes, I'm really playing it: it's "fuck my dick" awesome.
//VVVVVVV

Why didn't they keep the VESA card slots? Why don't I have a VGA slot? Why don't I have a floppy disk drive? BOOHOO!!! Seriously, it's the same type of test and it makes you look stupid.

Battlefield 3: In-game, gameplay footage

Even though it's gimmicky, I'll keep playing my Bulletstorm and maybe Crysis 2 (you know, a real engine). These games also don't need to suck the U.S. Military Industrial Complex's Dick at every turn.

I'm so tired of military shooters and even sci-fi shooters (and that includes Crysis, but Crysis saved itself with an amazing engine and sandbox gameplay, "an Oblivion FPS") that have to have their military command and objective structure, copying each other, not too mention they all come out from basically the same three companies...

I still think the engine to beat is the Crysis or Crytek's engine. To me it would be great for everything from RPGs to puzzlers, but they don't have the toolset like Unreal does. You can look at the top FPS games across the board and all of them but Bulletstorm have a military oriented gameplay or mechanic driving it. To an old-school gamer it's incredibly frustrating to have such a bland choice of games.

They are ALL the same except for textures, voice work, animation, and what comes out the tip of the big pointy thing. Exciting... I'd rather play Crysis I over again and again, or Portal, or Half-Life 2... Sorry, but Halo goes in with the ad nauseum group.
