Cop was suspended... at least. yay

It's a very small step... but probably didn't even lose any pay. Is there another profession on the PLANET where you wouldn't immediately be fire let alone have the police called and be arrested for if you did this?... i mean... ok Professional Wrestler... Professional Hockey Player... but what about the other 99.9% of us... NO WAY... we're already in jail if thats us.... Oh yeah... thats right... and f'n cop!

Suspended = pay loss. So I am not sure how you question whether it means no pay loss? Now, if you meant salary reduction, that's different.

And other professions? Hundreds, just for your info. Let's go over just a few shall we? Tow Truck driver, athletes of all kinds, movie stars, Broadway actors, music stars, repo-men, politicians, Soldiers, Marines, Air Men, Sea Men, farm hands, truck drivers, fishermen, etc.

Additionally, jobs like Walmart, Sears, Target, Sheets, etc. don't really fire you because you can just quit, and by next week you can have another job at any other low paying job (For example, you get fired from Walmart, just go to work for McDonald's.)

Stephen Fry on American College Football

qualm says...

American "football" is rugby-with-autism played in body-fenders. It's more like some homoerotic Broadway choreographed over-production of a divorce litigation done up by Elton John than any sport.

TNG Lessons in Humanity: Habeas Corpus

GeeSussFreeK says...

O right, I wasn't saying he was bad in early ST, just that his talents didn't fit the style of TV drama. Through the years though, he learned how to be perfectly dramatic without the melodrama that is the mainstay of Broadway style performance.

Jean-Luc Picard 2012.

Seconded!
I forgot how good of an actor patrick stewart became through ST. I just was watching some season 1 and 2, and he is so bad, a ton of overacting. But later on, he nails it perfectly. It is kind of fun watching his evolution from Broadway to silver screen.

I completely agree that Patrick Stewart became a better television actor through being on Star Trek but his real talent came from his years as a stage actor. Much like Andreas Katsulas and Ian McKellen who also gained their excellent talents from theatre I think Patrick Stewart was a powerful and compelling actor before he ever stepped into the shoes of Picard!

Did anyone see Patrick Stewart and David Tennant's performance of Hamlet that was running in 2008 and 2009? Very good, didn't get to go since tickets were scarce for every venue and every night but the BBC filmed it and released it at the end of last year.

Also let's not forget his appearance in Robin Hood: Men in Tights; or the 1984 version of Dune!

Awesome marriage proposal

redyellowblue says...

As much as this makes people all warm and fuzzy, this behavior is completely Beta and I advise against it. Does the girl want to make him happy for the rest of his life? She just looked more caught up in the moment. I bet you anything she ends up with the unicycle guy because Broadway production guy smothered her.

Thanks Kev, No probs at all, I've done it many a time despite searching first. Sometimes I really wonder about Videosift's search. :-/

Heya Spoco,
Sorry for the dupeage. I always try to be as thorough as possible when sifting, but I do miss dupes from time to time. Let me forward the dupe request along to someone (BF, maybe) to see if they can transfer the votes over to you.

Best,
-Kev
