Obama to Republicans: You Can't Drive!

Obamarx is really good at describing the poop on the plate as brownies but when it's time to eat we still only have sh;t. Left-wing Statism is a failure without any obstruction from the right. The Telepromptesident claimed to want The Job, so quit whining and keep trying to fly that stone kite, Soetoro. At least until November.

I'm just curious here, but is there some place that I can go to get a legitimate conservative opinion? Is there a website out there where intelligent conservatives actually have valid points and constructive criticism on todays issues? I am honestly openly looking for that, but I don't think I've ever seen an intelligent conservative comment from anyone, anywhere (that I can remember). Surely this isn't all there is. Where do you go for your facts that have turned you so against this administration? I'm hoping that there is just some secret shining beacon of intelligent conservatism out there that puts everything into perspective and I just don't know about it yet. And please don't say it's Fox News.

I guess i'm actually assuming that your conservative based on the tone of the quote below. I suppose you could be libertarian or even an Anarchist for all I know, but the question still applies.

I read this article and am partially through the replies. I think that there are some people in this country on both sides of the debate that are actually thinking this through.

I don't know if that answers your question, but at least it isn't FOX news.

Peace.

Wilhelm: The New Channel in town and a new invocation too! (Happy Talk Post)

Not a good comparison, especially since you said that you "dont get it NORE support it." sigh
>> ^BoneRemake:
yea I dont get it nore support it, why not have a channel dedicated to rubberbouncingballsthatarered if you are going to have this one.

with respect I think you are wrong as to your assertions my suggested channel was not on par with the wilhelm scream channel. I see it as this, The wilhelm scream is just as channel'able as a rubberbouncingballthatisred because its so targeted. If you where to see a video where a red bouncy ball was present, you would invoke it, if you where to see a red ball that could be bouncy you might invoke it. You seem to hold this wilhelm scream up to some high standard because it is used in various media forms and you must consider it some sort of cinematic beacon as to its great importance to our media, just as I do with

Tim Kaine: Steele Refused to Sign Letter Condemning Violence

NetRunner says...

The text of the letter Steele refused to sign on to reads as follows:

As leaders of our respective national parties, we want to speak to all Americans about the importance of conducting our political debates in a manner and tone that respects our political system and demonstrates to the world the strength of our democracy.

We have a system of government that allows the great issues of our day to be resolved peacefully and civilly and that serves as a beacon of hope to those around the world who yearn for political freedom, political stability, and governing without the threat of violence.

We have a system that allows people to express approval of their government or change the party in power peaceably through the ballot box.

Our Constitution affords Americans the right to assemble and petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Clearly, we have different positions on the merits of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. However, we together call on elected officials of both parties to set an example of the civility we want to see in our citizenry. We also call on all Americans to respect differences of opinion, to refrain from inappropriate forms of intimidation, to reject violence and vandalism, and to scale back rhetoric that might reasonably be misinterpreted by those prone to such behavior.

Obama Confronts Heckler Demanding Public Option

highdileeho says...

I like the conversation. My 2 cents: The bill was, in its conception, a great policy. But after it went through the special interest ringer that has a stranglehold on our governance, it turned into a giant turd. I have examples but will spare you the ten paragraph rant. The bill stands as a beacon of just how fucked our political system has become. I pray that over time new legislations will be added to ensure that premiums won't increase due to the new insurance regulations. Also that a public option will be added so that people will be activly participating in driving down insurance rates, and turning their money into aditional aid that will reduce the federal deficit.

I do not see this like most of my fellow liberals, as helping out a less fortunate sector on the socioeconomic rung. Their gross income will be reduced more than it has ever been, regardless of whether or not they need any medical coverage at all. I definitly don't agree with the conservatives who think that this is a handout at their expense. No class stands to gain if your looking soley at paystubs, as the republican argument always appears to.

Should We Bring back the Siftquisition? (redux) (User Poll by dag)

Mob rule. How very democratic. I think it was this type of majority vote that kept gays from marrying in California. And the exposure of it served as a beacon for gloating for all the "winners"... as in, "ha ha, look at them gays thinking they're regular people like us."

I vote a very strong nay. If site rules are clear, then there's no reason for us to drag it out in public. Nothing good shall come.

I don't know much about japanese culture, but is this even mainstream? I don't see how you can judge an entire culture by its worst. Perhaps we get more exposure to the outliers of Japanese culture because the outliers are so fucked up. Perhaps in Japan their sifting up a videogame like Manhunt and wondering why Americans are all homicidal psychopaths.

That is objectification of women, whether or not you agree with it.
There are no superhero plumbers in the real world, unlike women.

This isn't a real woman, nor is she in a real world. It's a fantasy land of make believe...doesn't objectification have to be of a real object?

No "to present as an object, esp. of sight, touch, or other physical sense; make objective; externalize.".

It doesn't matter if it's a real woman or not, this is a representation of a woman being presented as nothing but a plaything, and object to be looked at and prodded. This IS objectifying women. It's showing a woman not as a person but as an object... don't try and pretend that it's all fun and games, because really, it's kinda sick.

I personally have no issue with 'sex games' as long as the game doesn't make sex at all costs with no concern for the female character the aim. If it is presented as consensual and the woman is enjoying things too, then that's ok. It's these objectifying and rape type games that freak me out and scare me.

Really, how downtrodden, emasculated and powerless do Japanese men feel such that they need these outlets?

Japanese culture is often heralded as some shining beacon of perfectness, but underneath the sheen of 'respect' and order there seems to be an awfully sick and prevalent underbelly of a real need for power over women.

UK/USA made use of Uzbek torture

honkeytonk73 says...

Torture in the name of Freedom(tm)! God Bless The USA! USA! USA! USA! We're the beacon of fairness, freedom, morality. All those who are contrary to the loving word of JEEEESUS(tm) should be tortured. As they are going to be tortured in the ever hot and flaming realm a few thousand feet below the ground... and we call that Hell(tm). Hell exists you know. Not because I saw it myself. But because a guy in a dress living oh-so-humbly and simply in a huge publicly funded mansion on the backs of the poor told me so. Because he holds a book that has been revised 5000 times by old men told me so.

A mere word is enough proof for me. Just like George W. Bush's proclamation that Iraq was an imminent threat and had massive quantities of WMD and were on the cusp of unleashing an attack against my Oklahoma home town with a population of 53. Proof schmoof. Georgy was a "God Fearing American(TM)" and heck. Anyone who is smart enough to be afraid of a fairy tale... is well... smart enough to run a nation.

Praise!

Christopher Hitchens Responds to Fundamentalist Apologist

The West should stop fighting the oppressors and start strengthening the oppressed.

I would argue that sometimes we need to do both. Look no further than the Kurdish people. Probably one of the absolutely worst oppressed people in the region are now a beacon of hope to their country but it took not only strengthening them, but fighting against their oppressor as well. I firmly believe the best approach is on a case by case basis. Sometimes one or the other or both.

Personal Video of the Rifleman at Presidential Rally

spoco2 says...

I just don't get how people applaud someone like this.

* He is always armed, he lives in a paranoid little bubble the requires him to be armed with deadly weapons to feel safe... and you think he's worth looking up to.

* He thinks that all taxation is theft. Now I know that there are others here on the sift that agree with this bizarre notion. I am FIRMLY on the side of you pay taxes for services that benefit the country you live in as a whole. Those taxes go towards all the necessary services and infrastructure you wish for in a civilized society. (How well government X spends Y dollars is another debate entirely, but to consider taxes 'theft' is just overblown insanity)

* EXACTLY as Kevlar has said... these people get all riled up over more spending on HEALTH! Gee, where were THESE people when the billions of dollars were/are being spent on Iraq and Afghanistan. No... they seem to think that's fine, because they f*cking loves them a large military.

* Taking friggen weaponry like this out into a public space is just all out f*cking stupid. I don't care what he's trying to say about 'freedom' etc. The fact is it's just stupid, to what f*cking end.

If someone like this becomes your poster child, then I can happily right off your 'movement' as being detached from reality. Sorry, but I was willing to listen to the claims about how bad Obama really is, but when the people making those claims are saying what a shining beacon this person is, and how taxes are theft... f*ck off, I switch off I'm afraid.
