I can't stand ads. I pine for the days when the internet was ad-free. Now, you've got banners, popups, ads in videos, etc, etc.

I'm waiting for the ad within an ad.

Give that table a week and it'll be full of popup ads and communiques from Nigerian princes.

Um, I don't see one before. There's only an ad that pops up from the bottom of the screen, which you can close, so it doesn't bother me. I just turn off before the ad at the end. Is clicking a little X really so hard for you to manage?

It's true that online advertisers have worn out their welcome by abusing our trust - trying to take us away from where we want to be instead of engaging in situ with a potential customer.

As soon as advertisers realize that it's not about kidnapping us to their site - but instead engaging with us on some level in the place that we are at- online advertising will start to work.

The problem is that "success" is not currently measured by engagement, instead it's measured in web page impressions. So if you manage to get someone to click on your ad link, no matter how shitty it is - it's deemed successful. That sucks.

A 'bravery' tag? Are you kidding me? Did I miss the sift where Tony Benn fought through arm guards into the studio and demanded to be interviewed on live TV? There was me thinking that they just phoned him up and asked him to come on national TV for a softball interview knowing full well what his views are and that he had already done exactly the same thing earlier.

I guess I also missed the bit where the BBC is somehow trying to suppress the details of this charity rather than just wanting to distance themselves editorially from it. Having this story on the front page of their news site for 2 days must have confused me.
