He's made a second comment which was a massive attempt at an insulting psycho-analysis to try and a) insult and antagonise me and b) discredit me to others as a racist.

I absolutely will not stoop to doing that to him, nor giving him a fake psycho analysis to try and illustrate his deep rooted character faults.

It really upsets me that there are people on the sift that would do that kind of thing. Disagreeing with me is fine, but trying to publically analyse me and give a heavily biased insulting rundown is really .. well, i have no words for it, i'm simply hurt.

i agree and thats what my response was aiming at.
that so many who tacitly accept the fact and dehumanize "prisoners" without even looking into what a "prisoner" actually is.i was attempting to clarify that while we need prisons for those who are violent and are a detriment to society there is a vast population of non-violent offenders where jail does little more than fill the cell.corporate prisons are for-profit and has little to do with "rehabilitation" or "punishment" but everything to do with profits.these are the prisoners i was talking about,not the rapist or the armed bank robber but johnny slacker who dealt a little bit of weed.

the prison system has quietly become the 9th largest lobbyist in washington.they own and control 70% of americas prisons.it is not in their best interest to legalize weed or change the sentencing structure towards leniency.they actively pursue agressive laws and sentencing because it serves their interests.the public has little to do with their objectives.

as for the forced labor.i agree that idle minds can be a bad thing and keeping busy is a good thing.i dont agree that prisoners should be forced to participate in labor that benefits not only the corporate prisons but defense contractors as well.there are a few federal prisons that offer work and training for prisoners to learn a trade that pays a living wage but they are few and availability is limited.

2.3 million for a prison population is a city.the societal ramifications will not be felt for quite a few years but i would be willing to bet the outcome will not be positive.

I think at the time I must have been talking about authority, or having to go to one place for the time, and that time could be wrong. How would you know? You wouldn't unless you had a clock of your own to compare it to. Even so, what are the consequences of leaving before the proper time? So yes, I think I was speaking on the monopoly of time that the testers have.

It adds to a situation, a way of setting you up. Making you uncomfortable, or comfortable. Provided you are comfortable in a room with only one clock, or no clocks, or a loud clock. Most of the rooms I've been in, like the ones I described had only one clock and it was in a very visible place, most perfectly aligned.

But now that I look at the comment, it may have been a bit of comedy on my part. Playing on the testing rooms were every one is quiet, and only the ticking of the clock is heard. With each tick, each scratch of the pencil on the test the tock gets louder.

I hate clocks...

And as for you mentality - that's a hard one. Discworld of course are his best books (he has done some others), and within that series of books there are different spin-offs. Some are written from the perspective of the witches of discworld, some on the wizards (unrelated to the witches), some on the police, some are randomly based on a few individuals.

My dad started with the book about the police (or The Watch, as they're known in discworld). I let him start from the 1st book and he really didn't enjoy it, too fantasy for him, but fortunately he quickly realises comedy rather than fantasy is his niche. So while the very early books are a good read if/when you love discworld or fantasy, they're not always the best starting point.

I'd recommend therefore the City Watch books, as i did with my dad. They're an easy starting point. In order:
* Guards! Guards! 1989
* Men at Arms 1993
* Feet of Clay 1996
* Jingo 1997
* The Fifth Elephant 1999
* The Truth 2000
* Night Watch 2002
* Monstrous Regiment 2003
* Thud! 2005

I would recommend starting at the start if you mean to go on. The characters become more familiar and often you find the stories more sentimental and humorous if you know the characters. This list includes my top 3 favourite books of his, so definitely a good starting point. The books about Death (the character Death) are very good too.

Yes, I know, you're absolutely right. My spelling can go off course sometimes when I'm typing in a hurry... I need to take more time and go back over what I write before hitting the send button. Sometimes I do - sometimes I don't. I do know the difference, though, and I sometimes default to phonetic spelling when I'm rushed or not paying close enough attention.

Just thought i'd let you know - "wonder" means amazement at something, "to look on in wonder" or it could mean to think something over, "i wonder if this is right?". Pronounced wun-der. Wander means to walk around, and i think that's what you mean. Pronounced one-der.

There was so much going on there. That really takes the art of film making to the next level. Really, I mean, in the realm of "entertainment", that just painted one second of an amazing action scene, letting us wonder around as if we lived outside of time.
