Life's Too Short - Ricky Gervais introduces Warwick Davis

Glenn Beck reveals the NEW enemy: The cast of "Glee"

Yogi says...

Also I'd like to point out that I love Glee's performances and songs. But the writing is just shit. No sense of narrative no sense of holding anything back. Beck was onto something about instant gratification but in a different way. When you have characters they need to act someone like humans instead of Rachel just having like 3 different boyfriends in the FIRST FUCKING SEASON! What kinda story is that bullshit?

Ya know I compare it Buffy the Vampire Slayer...in the first episode of Season 2 there's a tender moment hinting at a budding romance between Willow and Xander. They did that a few times throughout the series but eventually stopped and they become probably the strongest friends of the group and with different separate people. It was an interesting story, that had tension and guessing and teasing in it.

In short Glee is written badly, and if Beck wants to take it down I say go for it. Two guys kissing on television ain't a big deal anymore anyways...Glee is better off dead.

(cancer) Cured: A Cannabis Story

Jinx says...

Well, chewing willow bark cures headaches. Natural remedies can be pretty powerful. Still, it seems pretty irresponsible to encourage people to ignore their doctors advice in favour of a largly untested cure.

I'd love to know by what mechanism they think this cannabis oil kills cancerous cells. Perhaps then I'd have an easier time believing it. Its a shame cannabis is such a political topic because any facts get clowded by questions over agenda.

There's a really good video on the sift somewhere. It's an animated song about an old man and a willow tree. Go ahead, try and find it. I dare you.

In fact, I'll give the first person who posts it to my profile a FREE * PROMOTE. (except the original poster that is)

Kurt Russel's Star Wars Audition

just further confirms that Lucas is a generally crappy writer/director who has just gotten lucky a couple of times.
a couple of times? Star Wars: ok, I'll give you that, crappy diaglogue, badly acted but fantastically good film, what's the other one, Willow, American Graffiti? they're the only 2 other possible contenders. Everything else has been a steaming pile of raped childhood memories.
If you say Revenge of the Sith, I'll reach down my broadband line and smack you so hard!

I thought Raiders of the Lost Ark was ok, too.

Homeopathic A&E - Mitchell & Webb

HenningKO says...

>> ^burdturgler:
Making fun of people who "believe" in homeopathy feels like disinformation to me. Turn them all into loons so that no one demands alternatives. Most drugs are derivatives of plants, herbs, trees etc. They were all "homeopathic" at one point. If he said "isolate the salicylic acid from the bark of a willow tree" that would sound funny too. Unfortunately now it takes upwards of a billion dollars to get something through the FDA. I don't know what that answer is, we can't have people selling dangerous and ineffective crap, but that doesn't mean that everything "homeopathic" doesn't work.

You're talking about Naturopathy... herbs have effects, yes... it is plausible.

The thing about Homeopathy though, is that if it's truly homeopathic according to the rules set down when it was invented... there really is no way it could work. Any active ingredients are diluted to the point that there is only water left.

Some products are labeled homeopathic, but actually have enough drugs in there to still do something. The only difference, then, between these falsely-labeled homeopathic treatments, herbal remedies, and the drugs you get from your pharmacy is that the homeopathic treatments and herbs are "alternative" and therefore, not regulated for safety by the FDA. Given the choice, I would go with the mainstream drugs which have been tested more thoroughly.

Zicam users recently fell afoul of a dearth of safety testing. Zicam was falsely labeled homeopathic, but it actually had measurable levels of zinc in it. People shot it up their nose and lost their sense of smell.
