Shep Smith Shuts Down Sean Hannity's Lies And Propaganda

Janus says...

I continue to have a great deal of respect for Shep Smith, and I continue to be surprised that Fox News still haven't gotten rid of him after all this time.

Can't be bad or worse than Will Smith's version. Argh. I never saw it though, just the previews.

But really... really?

This is so juvenile it's pathetic. The whole concept. It's like they're trying for the ground.

The Legend Of Korra - 37 Dicks

Lost in Space - Official Full Netflix Trailer

Payback says...

Dr. Smith is played by Parker Posey (The female vampire in Blade 3). She's in the trailer saying "It's complicated" or something similar.

Also I was wondering when the doctor would show up.

Lost in Space - Official Full Netflix Trailer

Payback says...

Oh, I'm not against a female Dr. Smith. Just concerned Posey can pull it off.

Imagine Dr. Smith as portrayed by Rosamund Pike. Hell, Netflix already has Sigourney Weaver over on Daredevil. I'd have chosen Aubrey Plaza over Posey. Her performance on Legion was creepy as all Hell.

Exec #1: Don't forget, we need to please the SJW and PC crowd... Let's make Smith a chick. Who can we get on a budget?

Exec #2: Hmm, Parker Posey?

Exec #1: Brilliant!

Why Japan Has No Mass Shootings

radx says...

Want to cut down the number of deaths by firearms? Stop tolerating shit like this:

"Shane Patrick Boyle, a founder of Zine Fest Houston, died on March 18 after his GoFundMe campaign to pay for insulin came up $50 short. Alec Raeshawn Smith, age 26, was found dead in his apartment on June 27. He was rationing his insulin after he aged out of his parent’s insurance coverage."

After everything is said and done, desperation/poverty is what should be looked at the hardest. Nothing makes people go apeshit as much as intolerable living conditions.

Universal background checks, bans on high cap mags, etc -- that's just doctoring around the edges. Get the Works Progress Administration going again. And while you're at it, revive the CCC and the PWA as well.

Aside from atrocious working hours and societal pressures, life in Japan is a lot less desperate than in most other countries. The low unemployment alone does wonders.

Japan's Ominous Dancing Cats and the Disaster That Followed

notarobot says...

Minimata disease was largely exposed by photographer W. Eugene Smith. The Chisso Corporation did not like being made famous for their business practice. Several employees attacked Smith in 1972. Smith survived, but never really recovered. He left Japan in 1974 to teach journalism at the University of Arizona. He died a in 1978, aged 59.

His most famous image of the environmental disaster was Tomoko Uemura in Her Bath.

You can see the rest of his images of Minimata at Magnum Photos.

And the Thirteen Doctor Is...

enoch says...

after watching michelle gomez knock it out of the park playing missy (formerly known as the "master"),and knowing the lore of the timelords that they do,in fact, change gender.i do not really see what all the fuss is about.

i love capaldi and i think his doctor could have been better with stronger material, because when the stories were good, capaldi really shined.

and i am exactly where @mram is at.i too, thought matt smith would flub it and was pleasantly proved wrong.(though i still am a tennant and baker fan).

let's hope the new female doctor has some good material to work with, and see how she runs......

And the Thirteen Doctor Is...

mram says...

I grew up on Tom Baker. I have loved and hated some Doctors as they came and went.

What I've learned: give anyone a chance. They might surprise you, and often do. But if they don't, let it go - it's not the end of the show. Matt Smith I thought would be awful (Too young! No skills!) and I was completely and utterly wrong, and happy to be wrong. Life gives you easy lessons sometimes.
