Someone stole naked pictures of me. This is what I did about
But society tells a man, enshrined in law and tradition, that if he does not want to be forced into wage-slavery for 18 years of an unwanted child's life, he should not have had sex with the girl in the first place. It makes women victims of sex, not equal participants, fully capable and fully responsible. The woman chooses to have, abort, abandon or offer for adoption. The man does not have any choice over that, including if he wants to keep and she does not.
And that double standard stems from the inherent sexist bias that men are the big strong responsible ones, and women need protecting and helping. I keep seeing Emma Watson's face plastered all over facebook with "He For She" gash-tagged. He for she? HE... for SHE? She does not need he, and the campaign ridiculously reinforces the male hyper-responsibility and female hypo-responsibility that has led us to this system which is sexist to both males and females. If anything, we need we, but wee-wee probably isn't a good tag-line.
So why did i bring sexism up? Well, either you can't tell people to act a certain way if they don't want consequences, or you can.... and we as a society do not have a standard to use, because we legally force fathers into wage-slavery at the whim of the mother and tell him exactly that. Is it any surprise men are using the same unfair argument by which they can be and are financially crippled? That's the heart of the debate imo; society raises men to be fully responsible for their actions, but raises women not to be (which as we see is sexist and unfair to both).
Only one thing is certain - equality of the sexes is important for both sexes. Because when society is willing to accept that women can be responsible for themselves, men will not be held responsible for a woman's decision to have a child. And then maybe men will stop using the argument which they must bow to by law.
Pre-emptive edit:
I will never let it be said that the views expressed herein are sexist, nor that i am sexist. I am a huge proponent of the fact that women are gifted with the same cognitive potential as men, and that any physiological differences are irrelevant in the modern world. But equality comes with a price - and that price is real equality. I am not encouraging irresponsible male behaviour... i am stating, loud and proud, as a feminist.. that women should be allowed to be fully responsible for their choices and actions, because i believe them to be fully capable of it.
Don't want cat calls? Don't wear a sexy outfit.
Don't want to be gay bashed? Don't go into the rural south.
Didn't want to be shot? Shouldn't have published those cartoons.
FUCK
THAT
SHIT
But funnily enough, no-one ever tells a white guy that if he didn't want to be car-jacked, he shouldn't be driving that corvette.

Unreal exchange over Canada’s involvement in Iraq
In the shots of Paul Calandra, on the left of the screen you can see my one-time high school classmate, Jeff Watson MP, clapping along to that horseshit.
Wow, who would have thought that canada, of all places, was taken over by right wing troll nutters.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Teaser Trailer
I was originally on board with the idea of expanding the Hobbit to fill in the back story of Lord of the Rings. I always thought it was odd that Tolkien just threw in this world shatteringly important event that happens off page.
But so far the two movies have been disappointing. Too long and too many improbable chase scenes. The whole pointless "dwarves vs Smaug" fight scene was just awful.
Holmes and Watson were decent enough in their scenes, but yeah, there was just way too much filler.
Honestly, you really don't. I tolerated the first one but the second one put me off the whole trilogy completely. It's just such a bloated attempt at a cash-grab by making three movies instead of the one they should have done it in. Terrible acting and terrible story-telling. The action is decent but the CG is kinda in-your-face and pulls you out with lots of "that's totally green-screened" moments.
Open Letter to Ellen Degeneres: Don't Promote A Psychic
1) it's clearly not for Ellen alone. It's the 21st century equivalent of the open letter. It's meant to have mass appeal so Ellen will see it. Somehow I doubt Ellen watches every video she's sent and even if she just sent it privately...
2) that's no excuse for the condescending tone and the poorly presented argument. Ellen is no doubt a busy woman and will only ever hear a summary of this anyway.
3) Ellen is not a complete idiot. I'm sure she's aware of the criticisms against psychics. So that means she either a) believes in psychics, b) doesn't put any stock in the criticisms or c) knows they're frauds, but figures they get good ratings.
And yes, it would be fantastic if this worked. If it does, I will publicly stand up and applaud skepchick. But I really wish she'd done a better job of this. For someone who makes a living doing this kinda thing, it's just really poorly done IMO.
edit: And just for the record, I didn't realise it was Watson when I first watched it.
Those folks who are criticizing the way this video was put together -- you have completely missed who it was made for. It was made for ELLEN DEGENERES. The person. The TV host. Not you, not the masses. She is trying to get Ellen to back off from giving air time.
I thought she did a great job in achieving her goal. I'm sure Ellen will be shown this vid.
She might even change her mind about having her on.
And isn't that a good thing? No TV exposure, this is a good thing, yes?
Open Letter to Ellen Degeneres: Don't Promote A Psychic
This is supposed to be addressed to someone who isn't already a skeptic. I doubt your 30 second dismissal would be at all effective in that kind of context. Probably Rebecca's pitch wouldn't be effective either, but at least she's presenting evidence and reasons that have a chance of getting through.
Also, if you think Watson's reaction to the whole elevator incident counts as "freaking out", you haven't seen a good freak-out. She mentioned the incident and advised guys not to behave that way (which is pretty good advice, I think). How does that qualify as freaking out? You want to see a good freak-out, check out the ridiculously over-the-top response her one-minute mention of this incident got.
Jesus, that took 5 minutes to make a point that could have been made in 30 seconds.
"Psychics are con-artists, charlatans and evil scumbags who prey on the grieving using simple illusionist tricks that any 12 year old kid could be taught in a few minutes. Stop giving them air time"
There, done. Now Rebecca can get back to being freaked out when people invite her for a cup of coffee.

On Jeopardy, Watson demolishes competition. Humanity next?
*promote the antmans's title, yes-Humanity next ya dumbshitz!
Plenty of Watson/Jeopardy offerings here on the sift but only one glaringly lucid title for a segment reminiscent of our near future as totally-fucked individuals...
Emma Watson - Talks about herself
It's actually better to want to watch this video because Emma Watson is good looking than for its intended purpose.
Looking at attractive women, if you're attracted to women, is a rational use of your time. Wanting to learn about someone's personal life just because you saw them on TV and the animal part of your brain thinks that makes them your friend now, that's really pathetic.

Atkins ⚗ Kottke ⚗ Watson ~ Last Steam Engine Train
3 of my favorites. Probably seen Kottke 20 times, Watson 15 or more and got to see Chet a couple of times. Went to college about 10 miles from where Doc lived. Saw him at the local music store often. Total salt of the earth and an encyclopedia of song. A real loss when he passed.
