First 10 minutes of Sam & Max- Culture Shock

poolcleaner says...

mas8705, Telltale Games is keeping this genre alive! They make episodic adventure games, just like Valve did with HL2. And it's not just Sam & Max, they are currently developing Strong Bad and Wallace & Gromit adventures! It's story/puzzle innovation over graphics.

I attended their panel at the 2008 Comic-Con in San Diego and it was spectacular!

Steve Purcell, the creator of Sam & Max was there, talking about how he's had a lot of creative control over both the game AND the ol' television show.

The Brothers Chaps were not there, but many of the game creators were there, and the demo of the upcoming Strong Bad adventure game will blow away any Homestar Runner (http://www.homestarrunner.com) fans. Hint, hint -- the King of Town as a tyrannical leader of the Municipality and the Poop Smith as the secret police.

The Wallace & Gromit demo was neat too, displaying an in-game example of the crazy contraptions we've come to expect from Wallace.

I'm a HUGE fan of all three of these franchises; if it wasn't for the J. Michael Straczynski Q&A, I would say this was the best panel at Comic-Con 2008.

Sift Spring Clean (a little early?!) (Sift Talk Post)

I'm in no way a hostile person and don't want to start any kind of 'flame war' - it's a good community here on VideoSift which I will never want to disrupt. I realised my persistence in this matter was annoying others - so I decided to leave it; until JD posted the above (hopefully, my last rant on this!)

Joe Dirt: I stand by everything I've typed & submitted. If you read my posts, you'll find in 'Rule 4 Definition?' I said: "I have no problem with my submissions being discarded if they break the rules. Although I will, if it's not enforced globally throughout VS (with no exceptions). Whatever happens: I think that rule 4 needs better clarity on whats not allowed and why" To add more irony; I really like the other users vids that will have to be removed (hence my votes for them all); but I believe that this rule needs sorting out.

Rule 4: "Please do not post entire episodes of television shows."

Expansion by Dag: "We have bent the rules a few times with videos that were apparently in the public domain, or for documentaries that were very aligned with sifters interests. I foresee that we will occasionally still bend the rules in these cases. But for just standard, current TV episodes - say the latest episode of Dr. Who, or a recent movie - this is still a no go and we will rely on Gold Stars to discard at their discretion"

Addition by Krupo: "One-off TV specials are okay, as are films that as far as we know, are clean for sharing on the net (up to our providers to police the other legal issues)"

If Golds believe that Wallace & Gromit Christmas Special breaks the rules (or any other video) - it's your decision to discard (just do it all - or none at all!)

Creature Comforts

ender says...

This clip from Nick Park, famous for his Wallace & Gromit series, was created just after his first Wallace & Gromit clip in 1989. In Creature Comforts zoo animals tell you their impressions of life behind bars.

The funny thing is that the voices you hear in the film are actually from residents of a housing development. Nick Park interviewed these people and used their answers in this animation.
