Custom Prosthetics Make Everyday Tasks Easier
Are you all thinking what I'm thinking? If so, shame on you.
Very very cool prosthetic though.
Hella Pursuit, Ditches Coat, Gets Away from Cops
It's a known thing among women in business meetings. She says something, convo continues, man in room repeats it, gets the credit.
Happens so much, it makes the list of top most annoying things about being a woman in a business meeting.
Interesting point about generational norms. It would be very very cool if this kind of nonsense comes to an end. [Edit -- now that I re-read your comment, I see you were making a different point. Which actually reinforces the "woman in the business meeting" meme. A younger man doesn't have status, all women don't have status. Yep. Sexism.]
I wondered about the helicopter reporter -- I got the feeling that he thought he was being congratulated on tracking the guy down and working so well with the pilot. I could be wrong, it was very subtle the miscue. He was justifiably proud of their work in the chopper -- somehow I got the feeling he was expecting THAT compliment, not something that had had happened ten minutes in the past.
Very well pointed out.
I don't know if it's sexism; do you think the same thing would have happened if his co-anchor was a younger guy?
Shame on the helicopter reporter for not redirecting credit. That said, I don't know how many of us are evolved enough to redirect the credit to where it is due.
Man Builds Rocking Chair Using No Power Tools
Very very cool, but it seems to me that the structural integrity seems to be compromised at the back/seat joint. He uses quite massive blocks for the two. Sure its good for a sitting or two, but the strain of many seatings.. those small plugs, even combined with the armchair rest will not be massive, to say the least. I would have chosen cutout thick spikes in the back (Think of the back part with as a massive E, like "IIIIE" all in one part, with the spikes of the E going through three square holes in the seat.
MOVI: Impressive New Kind of Camera Stabilizer
Very, very cool. Super expensive but with these kinds of devices you get what you pay for.
A friend of mine and I made a low-cost DSLR stabilizer. $160.00 and all manufactured in California:

Help Choosing Video Editing Software (Howto Talk Post)
[edit, remove my previous waffle]
So, it didn't initially click... this is actually Lightworks... THE Lightworks. This will probably take some getting used to, but being able to use an editing tool used on so many films is pretty bloody awesome.
Thanks again for the link. I just imported the pictures from one of our earlier animations and it automatically created clips based on scene detection using those pictures as frames. Very, very cool.
Michael Jackson Tribute Performance by Cirque du Soleil
Very very cool. Especially that gymnastics move towards the end. Wow.

I have a surprise for you:

Couldn't agree more - it is more action orientated, however I miss Mechwarrior
>> ^AeroMechanical:
With all the circle strafing and jumping around, it looks more like an fps with robots more than a Mechwarrior kind of game. Mechwarrior was closer to a simulator than a shoot-em-up action game.
Comparisons aside, it does look very, very cool though.
Hawken Trailer (Work In Progress) - Amazing Indie Game
I recall, maybe a year or two ago, seeing a *really* cool looking in-game trailer for a new official Mechwarrior game, then I heard some random rumor snipits abouts legal troubles with FASA, and then that was it. Nothing else.
Anyone know anything about that? Because, without a doubt, along with space sims like Tie Fighter, Mechwarrior-style games are something you just don't see anymore but that could be insanely, unbelievably, ridiculously awesome with modern hardware.
