Well, they do and they don't. They are on the same strip, but suddenly Mr. UG, and the puppy and everything else are on their own side of the world. Unless they master drilling through the planet core, or somehow take advantage of the tertiary conformation of the strip to jump to the other side when it comes close, the wind will never see his puppy again :-(.

I don't know what's going to happen to us. Everything's so screwed up. I keep getting sucked back into politics only to realize how useless it all is. Nothing ever goes my way. The crazy conservatives never go away. The lies get debunked, but the lies keep getting told and repeated. Ug.

Saw some friends at the bar last night. Did my heart good. Beats the hell out of sitting there all alone.

he is my congressman. and we don't hail from butt-kissing land. we prefer the epithet, heavily manipulated, angry and logically impaired populist town.
but we're only logically impaired because we're so busy being wage slaves to our corporate masters and then eyes slaves to the tv's they told us we should watch regularly and the churches they said would give us hope and raise our spirits. we don't have much time to think for ourselves anymore.

The harder thing to understand would be if I told you that if you fired a bullet from a rooftop straight down to the ground, or you fired it at an upward angle, due to the conservation of energy, both bullets would have to be travelling at the same velocity magnitude when they hit the ground (although direction at impact would be different, obviously).

Ug + KE(initial) = KE(final) for both scenarios the potential energy do to being on a roof and the velocity of the bullet leaving the gun are the same. As long as the mass of the bullets are the same, it'll land with the same velocity. (Trust me when I first heard that I did the brute force kinematic equations to solve this problem and it is in fact the same velocity.)




No. The longer a bullet is in flight, the more air resistance has affected it. The one fired at the ground would get there quicker, thereby retaining more of the energy imparted on it by the exploding gunpowder.
