Like mentioned before, if you feel like going toe to toe on videos of military action, there’s 4 advanced aircraft filmed shot down over Russia, two oil refineries (one in Crimea, one in Russia), a command depot, and dozens of videos the Russian retreat from Bakhmut in just the last few days.
I could provide new videos daily of Russian tank columns being destroyed, trenches bombed, hideouts shelled, territory recaptured, and lately Russia burning…but why? The only one who doesn’t know what’s happening there is you, and you just ignore any evidence you don’t like.

Ukraine has hit so many ammo dumps Russians are out of ammunition on many fronts, Ukraine has more ammo than ever in their ramp up for the counter offensive. More, better weapons and ammo than ever, and more trained troops, while Russia is using WW2 weapons and is losing all their advanced equipment rapidly.

It seems Elon, on a guesstimate, decided the most powerful rocket ever built didn’t need any method of deflecting the thrust away from the plain concrete launch pad. He did plan to eventually try a huge steel plate under the rocket, but couldn’t get it done so just launched anyway with NOTHING.
NASA has been using both for over 50 years with success. A flame trench is a reinforced trench designed to redirect thrust horizontally away from ground infrastructure. A water curtain is exactly what it sounds like, a huge curtain of water dropped at ignition that absorbs the initial pressure/heat wave, also minimizing damage to ground infrastructure and lowering initial sound levels.

Why Elon decided he needed neither for the most powerful launch system ever is unfathomable. His launch pad is destroyed and this launch never even came close to 100% thrust. How many times does Elon have to totally screw the pooch as an engineer before they take his drafting table away? When I was in Belgium a couple of years ago, I visited a farm where they're still pulling WW1 iron out of the ground on a daily basis. "The Iron Harvest" it's called. Finding WW1 shells is so common that farmers in the area just collect them and put them at the end of their roads for the disposal guys to pick up.

Patriotism or its effect is really just a will to support and defend a local community that can then defend itself from external forces and organize internal infrastructure and services.

National states just happen to be strongly defined communities that can be organized fairly easily.

As with other ideologies it is important to try to not let one take over the state without any recourse.

Misuse of xenophobia in politics is just as worrying as the apparent lack of will to defend the "European community" from external forces. No one is willing to die in trenches in the name of Europe just yet. And there is still a lot of internal xenophobia within Europe.
