Jesus, so you were ill that whole time??? I remember you had just started to feel ropey when I last saw you. Goddamn mate, I hope you're getting well now. Great thing about being ill, is that when you start feeling better again you feel almost on top of the world!

Yay for reunions, and the whole distance makes the heart grow fonder is soooo true. Great way to keep things fresh, huh

Life is grand here honey, except for the kids are off school, the purse strings are tight and the sun is lacking big time. Stupid english summers! But yeah, happy as always. Take it easy babe, have fun in Montana!

Hey hotness!
I am on vacation right now for almost the whole month of August. Mr. DFT has been out here in Montana since the end of june, and I just flew out here on Sunday (Aug. 2nd) to join him for the second half of his gig. I had been getting over a really bad viral infection for almost the whole month before I left, and have been frantically preparing for this trip so that gave m e little time to be here, unfortunately. My kitties are being well cared for, so I am very much relieved and happy to be on vacation, plus it was especially wonderful to be reunited w/ DFT , who I haven't seen for over a month. How have you been, sweetie? I'll try to check in regularly now that we've gotten hooked up w/ internet and that I've figured out how to use DFT's laptop to get on here.

Cutting down my VS time - Thanks Everybody (Timeshift Talk Post)

dystopianfuturetoday says...

Take care minty. I know how time consuming finding and sifting videos can be. I've been on hiatus too, stopping and smelling roses and whutnot. Whatever's getting you down is only for now. You'll be back on top of the world soon enough.

Anyway, I'm sure the lure of VS will bring you back at some point in the not to distant future. Till then...

Someone Finally Stands Up to Bush

shuac says...

Is it really that important that Bush is or is not a moron? Is that really what you guys are arguing about?

The real issue for me isn't that Bush is a moron. I don't believe he is. What I believe is that Bush is a remarkably callous human being.

Three months after 9/11, who else could say "But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me." Even out of context, who would say that but a person who felt it?
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/12/20011221-2.html

What other wartime president would dance in front of cameras, with American soldiers coming home in boxes, and many many more seriously, permanently injured? Only a person without a conscience could do that. No citation needed here, since I'm sure you know the dance I'm talking about.

In the days leading to war in March 2003, televangelist and friend Pat Robertson expressed misgivings about the invasion to Bush. Robertson remarked that Bush was like "I'm on top of the world." Who could act this way other than a person who felt this way?
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/19/robertson.bush.iraq/

Three Star Marine General Gregory Newbold, about Bush's decision to invade Iraq, wrote, "was done with a casualness and swagger that are the special province of those who have never had to execute these missions — or bury the results."
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/10/world/middleeast/10military.html

There are many more examples of this man's cold conscience. But the power of Bush's supporters to ignore the obvious far outweighs the power of demonstrable evidence. So ignore away!

Was the DC Madam murdered?

I think she was murdered. Doesn't have to be Cheney. Soooo many high profile clients. From the BBC article:

Other patrons of the agency - known as Pamela Martin and Associates - included Nasa officials, top military officers, World Bank and International Monetary Fund executives, as well as the head of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Randall Tobias, who stepped down after being named as a client.

Also, women generally don't hang themselves. They choose pills or other efficient methods.

The Scene That Won Denzel Washington His First Oscar

Trancecoach says...

For some reason I was fascinated with the image of the guy's head exploding in one of the early battle scenes of "Glory."

If you look closely at one point in this film, there is an 'extra' who plays a soldier in the regiment wearing a digital watch. Oops.

This is a good scene. It demonstrates the blind racism that persisted (and persists) in the U.S., and how minorities bear the brunt of this racism, not only as individuals, but as symbols. The country cannot have minority heroes, because the prejudice mythology runs too deeply.

And with each whip, both characters learn this. Powerful indeed.
Personally, I liked Denzel best in Ricochet. "Look at me, top 'o the world!"

This song is just on the edge of my self-awareness. It's in my fuzzy mental playlist with "That's the Night that the Lights Went Out in Georgia", "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "I'm Sitting On Top of the World"

I'm not cool with that
