Jack - Michigan - Republican Voters Against Trump

newtboy says...

I'm in love with these Republican created anti Trump commercials.

It should be noted their figures seem to not include the trillions lost through Trump's horrendous pandemic response, which alone has added another > $3.5 TRILLION to the debt this year, and will likely add trillions more before it's said and done.

They indicate an estimated $28 trillion debt if Trump has a second term, but in reality it past $26.3 trillion last week and is all but guaranteed to hit $28 trillion by November, not in 4 years from now but 4 months.

So much for erasing the debt, Trump has exploded it and bankrupt our treasury. Our debt is now more than GDP. Each man, woman, and child now owes $80000. Trump's family has raked in hundreds of millions if not billions selling out America.

Republicans who voted for Trump because he's a financial genius should hand their estates to the state and walk into the sea, pockets full of rocks. This is his MO, sell off resources for personal gain, drive what's left into bankruptcy, pay himself handsomely, claim perfect leadership and genius level business sense, and walk away from the dumpster fire he created...over and over.

Alaskan Glacier calving Columbia w/ 200 foot high shooter

Buttle says...

I'm not sure we agree on what the underlying cause is. Glaciers are flowing ice, they're like rivers, only solid. Whether they grow or shrink depends on the balance between inflow and outflow. Even when glaciation was at its height tens of thousands of years ago, glaciers still flowed to the sea.

Am I the only one disturbed and concerned by the underlying cause of the calving than repeatedly yelling "Oh my God woohoo!" like I'm watching a blockbuster disaster CGI movie? It's not "entertaining"...

And reading up Glacier calving on wikipedia, the boats not even at a particularly safe distance?

Glaciers that end in seas calve regardless of the effects of global warming. That is just what happens when they meet sea water.

The entertainment is mostly the result of the boats not being at a particularly safe distance. People enjoy doing something stupid and surviving.

Also big moving things awe us. I would definitely be entertained seeing this from up close. Could not help myself.

My take from this is that "holy shit" is slightly more entertainment than "oh my god". Amused to death.

No doubt. It appears to be going back to it's original site at the end.

Side note, now that you've demonstrated your abilities, Gaia, can you please push another white house into the sea for me?

Dude, tell me you are not this dumb. here's the video and a searchable transcript https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4864096/dr-deborah-birx-modeling

>>>>>>>>>And what about it exactly? she says

"There is no model right now -- no reality on the ground where we can see that 60% to 70% of Americans are going to get infected in the next eight to 12 weeks. I want to be clear about that."

???Oh???
so you have no models that say that ANDDDDD you have no data on the ground that indicates that that is happening? Okayyyy???? WHAT?

We also have no data that there is a giant sea monster attack in Florida AND we have no studies that say that... like what??????? I said "go find ONE example of someone credible saying that shit."

This is not what i asked for, this is someone from the Trump administration SAYING that someone in the media is saying that + a bunch of word salad nonsense.

Come on man, ALLL the media reports of doom and gloom claiming millions will die in the usa! (supposedly)

Use your GO-TO sources for news that you claim are liars. CNN NBC ABC MSNBC You know! It should be easy to find a clip from them from this time period claiming this. After all, you got your information straight from the trump administration, so it's VERY reliable.

Let's be real here. You got this idea from the Trump admin, and the people at that podium. I appreciate you ferreting out the origin of this information, really. I dig that you went and found something close to someone saying that t5here will be X many million deaths, but at some point, you have to admit that YOU GOT YOUR INFORMATION FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT BEING HONEST.

Pirate films projected on a pirate ship in a play ground

I like the idea, but the execution was disastrous. One film at a time, people. Also, since this is for adults, let's just skip Pirates of the Caribbean altogether. There are so many better, more adult, even historical pirate movies to choose from, we don't need Johnny Depp's super natural fantasy films featuring quasi pirate heros, try The Crimson Pirate, Captain Blood, Morgan the Pirate, Captain Kidd, The Sea Hawk....shit, even Yellow Beard would be an improvement.

Grreta Thunberg's Speech to World Leaders at UN

I don't have time today, but if memory serves, ar4 temperature/ sea level prediction was 30-60% higher than ar3, ar5 less of a change, but still higher than ar4, and yesterday it went up another 10% with the intermediate report, expected to rise again in the 2021 report. I found it by accident and can't find it this morning, and I'm out of free time already today.

It's the factual, scientifically likely outcome. There is no "right" approach, indeed there's no working solution at all.

Yes, different again on two NOAA sites. They don't make it easy to find and compare accurately reported data.

I meant it was odd because they listed the 2018 data as if it was the highest readings, I understand it's not a constant rise.

@newtboy,

"Stupid to use all these differing sets, that only adds confusion to an already technical and confusing topic."

I'm just glad they stick to metric, with sea level rise you don't even get that .

"No matter what, it's incontrovertible that every iteration of the IPCC reports has drastically raised their damage estimates (temp, sea level) and sped up the timetable from the previous report."

At least temperature wise the AR1 report had higher temperatures, and definitely higher worst case projection scenarios for temp than the latest. I can't say I checked their sea level projections, though typically they're other projections have followed on using their temps as the baseline for the other stuff and thus they track together. That is to say, if you can point me a source that reliably claims otherwise I might go check, but currently what I have checked tells me otherwise.

"I'll take the less conservative NOAA estimates and go farther to assume they over estimate humanity and underestimate feedback loops and unknowns and believe we are bound to make it worse than they imagine."

Which is fine, I only object if that gets characterized as the factually scientific 'right' approach.

"The NOAA .83C number was compared to average annual global temperatures 1901-2000...and oddly enough is lower than 2017's measurements."

Which is yet another source and calibration period from what I found. The 1901-2000 very, very roughly speaking can be thought of as centered on 1950, so in that fuzzy feeling sense not surprising it's 0C is colder than the IPCC centered on the nineties.

The source on current instrumental I went against is below:
https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/

As for 2018 being cooler than 2017, that's pretty normal. 1996/1997 were the hottest years on record for a pretty long time before things swung back up. It's entirely possible we stay below the recent high years for another bunch of years before continuing to creep up. Same as a particularly cold day isn't 'evidence', the decadal and even century averages are where the signal comes out of the noise.
