Dub FX + Saxophone = More impressive than usual

John Coltrane -- incredible jazz solo, with animated music!

Maynard Ferguson - Birdland

Doc_M says...

Maynard is one of the jazz trumpet legends. He gets a bad rep for being a "high-note only" diva of trumpet but that's not fair to him. He led a solid band and had a solid sound. In addition, in this video, his tenor sax player was amazing. This tune is an ounce of back and a pound of jazz. Don't go playing it down.
Plus. This was the 80's. Take that into account plz. 80's folks loved synth crap in their tunes.

"Sound" (1966-67), Pt. 1-w/Rashaan Roland Kirk

choggie says...

....for all you jazz virgins, Rashaan Roland Kirk, was a saxophonist, experimental instrument fabricator and all-around, prophet of soul, sound, and texture...in This first clip, "Three For The Festival, he employs the use of three horns simultaneously played by himself....
