people like BillO (not BillO himself because he's just playing a role like Colbert) are going to continue to grump and whine as the nation moves more and more blue.

Unless the parties fundamentally change, the nation is going to keep going to the left more and more because they want equality for gays, they want equality for women (Republicans lost this election as soon as this became an issue again..WTF reps?) People are sick of beating war drums and they want health care reform.

Red stronghold states will eventually be whittled away until even Texas and the Bible belt go blue. the population of the cities (which tend to lean left) will outstrip the right leaning rural areas.

2016 will be the election to watch. Will Republicans not learn anything and continue driving hard right or will they actually figure out how to take the party back from the nutbags and kick the tea party and the christian fundamentalists to the curb

Look at it this way. Doubling down on stupid like this is just hastening their demise. I live in a red state and I work with a lot of Republicans and more and more of them are just fed up with this ludicrous bullshit. They have no love for Obama, but the feel alienated from their own party because NONE of them buy into this insanity.

Shit like this will either be the end of the conservative movement in the US, or it will finally drive rational Republicans to take their party back from the whackos.

This nonsense is just guaranteeing Obama's win in November. Maybe you don't agree with Obama, but odds are, you won't buy into this charade so it just drives them away from Republicans.

How much you want to bet that NONE of the remaining GOP candidates will touch this with a 10 foot pole. Even they're not that stupid.

There is a big disconnect between brand Republicans (like QM) and ideological Republicans (like MG). This video is a fair critique of the former, but not so much to the latter.

I predict the ideological Republicans are going to make a play to take their party back from the Neo-cons in the next few years, just as the Dems did with Howard Dean in 2006.

I wish more conservatives were like MGR and Ron Paul. Democrats have begun to take their party back. Republicans should do the same.
