Two Veterans Debate Trump and his beliefs. Wowser.

Drachen_Jager says...

"We need to find out how many vets are willing to do war crimes. Jesus."

You don't really follow current events, do you?

Since the Vietnam war, American soldiers have been rigorously trained to act instead of think. It's been very successful. So successful that the US is now the best country at the world when it comes to killing your own and accidentally targeting civilians. In the first gulf war, 12 Bradley AFVs were destroyed, NINE of them were by US troops. I saw a video during that war of a spotter for an A-10. Even on the poor-quality video we could see it was a Bradley (this was while I was working with an Armored regiment). The A-10 obliterates the Bradley and all the on board were certainly dead, he calls back over the radio, "I believe that was a friendly, over." To which the spotter says, "Oh shit, I was afraid of that."

Your soldiers kill eachother without fear of repercussions. Why the hell would they worry about war crimes against other people?

Typical click bait vids these days, you never actually get the softcore porn... /eyeroll

And yeah, these fucking spotters are awful, there are quite a few people lucky to still have a working throat or a non-flailed chest in there...

I always wonder how many people just waltz into a gym on any given day and start working with equipment without any idea how it even works. The woman in the thumbnail however, no matter what she's doing, it can't possibly be wrong, at least not from where I'm sitting.

The worst of this is not the people making mistakes on how much weight they can lift, which is innocent enough, it's common and easy to underestimate what 5kg can mean between comfortable-impossible. It's the terrible fucking spotters.

Selfie from hell

Fantastic work, what a great build up of fear in 1 minute 41 seconds.

(and I think the moral of the story is: always have a spotter when you are taking selfies)

Guy Locks Himself In A Car For An Hour In Sweltering Heat.

Mordhaus says...

*timeshift *EIA *quality

Yeah, he isn't counting radiant heat on his clothes/skin, which will definitely contribute to his internal temp.

He should have had a spotter, I cringed when he said nobody was nearby and he was in a secluded parking lot. Darwin candidate here...

Downhill Skateboarding With Surprise Ending

SwimWithSharks says...

even if you have a spotter at the bottom starting around 2:04 and again 2:11 there are parking lots/other roads connecting to the road they are descending on, so any type of vehicle could have come in even before then. They should've had the spotter at 2:04 and stopped the video then if they wanted to do it safely.

I wasn't in Spain with them, so I don't know any more than you

I would assume the chase car with the camera had a radio link to a spotter at the bottom, but they don't actually say so. I read it more as a warning to always take care rather than saying not to use radios.

If you put the question to the OP perropro on yt he may reply, he's answered other questions.

Thank you for the link. To be clear, were these guys using walkie talkies and they failed? That's not obvious from the video. It looks a lot like they weren't and are trying to cover themselves by saying 'walkie talkies can fail so there's no point using them'. I'm being a bit grumpy about this and could well be wrong, it's just the way the video says 'walkie talkies can fail' not 'our walkie talkies failed'.

Buy good walkie talkies not cheap shitty ones and test them where you're going to use them. I've used them a lot at sea and not had any issues with the good ones. No technology is perfect, but there are still ways they could have mitigated the danger.

Another option would be to use a phone and a bluetooth earpiece. Open conversation throughout the run with the guy at the bottom of the hill. If the signal cuts out you slow down. It's really not rocket science. There really are plenty of ways they could have tried to avoid this.

But at the end of the day you're right, an open road is always a risk regardless.

Downhill Skateboarding With Surprise Ending

If it was on a closed road then it's great. I love the video and I'd love to have a go. But on an open road what they were doing was so stupid it doesn't bear thinking about.

If someone was driving up that road and he hit them at the speeds he was going he'd damage their car undoubtedly. Does he have insurance for that? I'm going to stick my neck out and say he doesn't. Is he happily going to hand over a few hundred bucks to get the repairs done properly? Is he going to supply a hire car while the work is being done? Is he going to cover the increase in their insurance? No he's fucking not.

Add to this the trauma the driver would go through if the guy on the board was badly hurt. Even if an incident isn't your fault it can still have a serious effect on someone.

How dare he put other people at these risks. Even if they can't close the road there are loads of ways they could deal with this situation. Having a spotter at the bottom of the hill with a radio would be a good start...

I hate shit like this. I completely understand the thrill of the speed. I'm lucky enough to get to drive some very fast cars on track days and the feeling of speed is one hell of a rush. But it's on a track, I know what I've signed up for and everyone else out there has signed up for the same thing. But on a public road? Not interested. The risk of hurting others just isn't OK.

As for buses not counting, if he'd smashed into the front of the bus and hurt himself he'd have buggered up a bus full of people's days. The driver couldn't just drive away, he'd have to wait for the police and again try to sort out how it's going to be paid for. All the people on the bus would have to wait around and all because this tit thought his five minutes of fun is way more important than everyone else's lives.

Water Tower Demolition in Belarus

Payback says...

How is this in any way Evolution In Action? He had a spotter. The tower would fall generally towards the main hole. They even put up safety lines for the crowds of onlookers. Calling this EIA is like calling tree falling EIA.
