Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl kicks out a fan for fighting
@xxover: No, that's not what he means. He's talking about when an artist is actually on-stage performing in front of an audience and happens to be lip-syncing to a backing track. A la when Brittney Spears was on stage and said "My pussy is hanging out!" You can clearly see that she was saying that phrase to a pre-recorded audio sample. I can tell because of her lips and the audio samples. I've heard some 'protoolses in my time.

Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl kicks out a fan for fighting
As the keeper of the livemusic channel, my opinion is this: this video is livemusic related. The livemusic channel is not overrun with this type of stuff, so no big deal. Like when Britney Spears said on stage "My pussy is hanging out!" That is livemusic also. Livemusic is also OK for canned recordings when the artists are seen playing instruments or singing. (Like, Milli Vanilli or acts from the "Michael Douglas show".) So it is sort of a bit like putting horses in the catsAndDogs channel.

Tribe Meets White Man for the First Time
Yeah, it certainly had the potential to go down more like Operation Auca (five missionaries were speared in the Amazon in the 1950's by tribesmen they were trying to make contact with). >> ^KnivesOut:
This video gave me chills. The first contact, with the armed warriors approaching the camera-wielding white ghosts.... That could have gone really poorly. What brave people, on both sides.
So, what are the people of Stockholm, Sweden listening to?
All these people have Stockholm Syndrome, identifying with Bieber and Spears more than good music.
Brittney Spears in Bungee-Porta Potty for Jackass 3
well it is at the beginning -- hard to see who's in the porto.

That's not even Britney, is it?
Canada's first Slut Walk
The "oversexualized" look is now THE way to dress for little girls if they want to look like their idols Beyonce, Shakira, C.Aguilera, Mrs. Spears and that dame Fergie. Watch mtv for a couple hours and you'll see. This trend has slowly expanded to mid-aged women, making it a new standard, accepted style. Men should get used to it and not take it literally. Usually, women who dress like this don't want to tease you more, but only to look younger.

Southern Avenger: Obama's Libyan War
There are a few differences, the Iraq war was originally billed as taking out Saddam's WMDs and Terrorist training camps. When these things didn't materialize the dialogue morphed into 'liberating' the Iraqis. This time the dialogue is solely about stopping A dictator from actively killing civilians. Its also a UN action, as opposed to US and Pals.
Some liberals love the save the oppressed angle, while some conservatives are wringing their hands over getting the US a foot hold in an oil rich nation who's leader has embarrassed us several times in the past with his open defiance of our will.
As a liberal I would normally be in support of such an action if I could actually believe
A.)We're actually doing what the vast majority of Libya's 6 million+ population wants and not just handing control of the country over to a thousand or so militants because they're more friendly to us (for the moment).
B.)There won't actually be any ground troops, therefor greatly reducing cost and possibility of US casualties. And that instead of spear heading the effort, we're just helping to level the playing field for the militants.
C.)This was actually about helping the civilians of Libya rather than spending billions if not trillions of taxpayer dollars so some corporations can make billions off exploiting Libya's resources and our military and then have the gall to bitch about how high taxes are.
I suppose the problem is we've been lied to so often by both sides, exploiting our fears or noble intentions, nobody believes them. When was the last time our involvement in a conflict actually went as planned? WWII?

Here's a few things that the Tea Party of my neighbor to the north, Montana, is pushing:
- Ban abortions
- Limit sex education
- Nullifying any federal law or right they don't like
Yeah, the party of 'liberty' wants to take away reproductive rights, restrict education about human sexuality, and nullify any other rights they deem unnecessary.
But I assure you, the Montana teabaggers have their priorities straight. They also want to:
- Declare global warming to be good for business
- Legalize hunting big game with a spear
You see, spear hunting is an urgent issue, and the Tea Party is going to make sure that it gets addressed by the state legislature because the state has oppressed spear hunters for far too long. This is important business, requiring tax dollars for the time and effort for this crucial debate.
Oh, and guess what they have to say if you don't like their agenda: "I say to you: 'This is America: Love it or leave it,'" shouted Rep. William McChesney, during the sovereignty declaration debate.
It's "liberty" on their terms, or get the fuck out.

QM, how can you endorse people who want to enforce, by law, rules about who can get married, who can raise children, what women do with their bodies, and who should and shouldn't be able to negotiate the compensation for their labor...
But the president's wife suggesting that we might start a program to educate kids about the dangers and benefits of nutrition is just the height of tyrannical nanny-ism...

well, yeah. that obviously was the entire conversation, or even the end of his insight. but he predicted a lot of the things that are going on now with beautiful accuracy. and of course, in the end... the US has had its dick in mid east sands for far too long for anything to ever ever be ok. >> ^Yogi:

except some of us care on insane day/month/year destroying levels and don't need our heart wounds opened up by watching bloodshed we are way too aware of.
so i'm not watching the video, because i don't watch brutality on purpose. i dont mind if you do, but my heart/feelings/stomach can't take it...... but i wanted to add something i thought about the other day that made me happy....
so one of my bff's is an awesome dude. he is a teacher and spends half of us time teaching teenagers in the middle east. sometime around a decade ago he had just gotten back from teaching some teenagers in Syria. We were talking about impending wars in the middle east and speculating what they would look like and how they would play out. we rightly guessed that iraq would be invaded, someone would lie, and we'd pretend we were "liberating" them.... so my friend said something amazing. he said that we won't need to "liberate" anyone. if we just leave them alone, his students generation will grow into adults and they will demand democracy and civil liberties. he predicted it would be helped along by what the internet was surely to become. and said that his students want stupid things like pepsi and brittany spears but they also want to participate in a whole world culture and some of them just want to be gay or have blue mohawks or wear tshirts that say "fuck you" or bang on loud instruments or whatever. but his students 9 or 10 years ago are now in their 20s. and theyre as strong and tenacious and smart and sick of being stifled as he said they were and they know their power. and they are sooo amazing.
and my friend is probably the smartest person i know.

We wouldn't want people to see things which are uncomfortable for them, that might make them care about the fact they're happening! That way lies madness
Your friend is very smart and a good person...but he is somewhat misguided. There have been people banging on about democracy in the Middle east for decades, they protested they rose and fought for their freedoms. Many ended up crushed but United States backed forces. So while it is your right to night watch this film I would suggest that you possibly join a local group. Protest this sort of treatment...the only way to stop these kinds of films is not by watching it and getting mad but to make sure our government isn't going to facilitate the next batch of them.
