Seat belt violatiation ends w/ Police Smash Window and Taser

newtboy says...

It's getting to the point where there's MORE than one of these videos per day. It's even worse when you consider most of them seem to involve 'people of color', apparently targeted for their skin color. Have the police suddenly become a wing of the KKK? If not, what the hell is going on? It can't ALL be because there's more cameras today (one excuse I've heard), that's been the case for a while now and is not a sudden change, but this rash of violent cop videos is.

TYT - Ben Affleck vs Bill Maher & Sam Harris

BicycleRepairMan says...

Cenk: "You know he meant bigoted[not racist], stop nitpicking stuff like that.."

NO, thats a crucial fucking point. Its not bigotry nor racism, it is criticism of a RELIGION, not a race, not a people, not a population, not a country, not a skin color , not a sex, , not a language, not a philia, not a fuckin skull shape. A religion. There is a crucial difference. If you cant see the difference, then I'm sorry: Try again.

The thing is, criticizing a bad idea, or a collection of bad ideas can never be racist nor bigoted.

That not to say that some people aren't irrationally hating and bigoted towards muslims, or people who look like they might be muslims, but that is a COMPLETELY different thing.

Everyone understands this in politics: if you think the republican party sucks, that doesnt mean you hate people with a texan accent. Still, I'm sure some people think people with a thick texan accent are automatically to be considered as racist hillbillies who vote republican. That's stereotyping and bigotry. Being anti-republican is not.

BTW, anyone bamboozled by Reza Aslans fantasies about islamic countries being equality paradises shoud read Muhammad Syed and Sarah Haiders dismantling of his distortions right here : http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2014/10/05/reza-aslan-is-wrong-about-islam-and-this-is-why/

Real Time with Bill Maher - Racism in America

Stormsinger says...

You can lump me in with the racists when, and only when, you see me doing something racist. My skin color does not qualify.

If you're attacking racism by being racist, your problem is clearly not racism. Your problem is being the target of racism...apparently it's fine if the target is someone else.

Kerotan said:

"I'm so upset by the relentless state mandated murder of black Americans, that I'm actually somehow more angry and personally hurt about the implication that I may actually be complicit in perpetuating racism and racist attitudes, than the actual problem!"

Racism is institutional first and foremost. Come back to me when white people have a history as being treated as slaves, come back to me when you are considered dirty on mass just for the colour of your skin, come back to me when you struggle to find a job just about anywhere, come back to me when the picture printed of you in a newspaper is one that depicts you as a victim at fault.
Come back to me after you've sat your arse down and listened to the lived experiences of people of colour.
Then you might realise that white people don't have all the answers, and we should shut the fuck up, sit the hell down and listen.

Hello Racist

btw. Is this the poor white slum future you speak of ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C2R12xQDDE

Ah hahahahah

White slums are the SAME as black.
Guess it's was NEVER a skin color thing... just a dumb poverty thing
But you probably can't understand that

btw. Most of Russia/Europe/USA is decaying urban concrete. wtf does that have to do with anything...
Please write more, your ignorance is very very funny

oh yeah... "vote against immigration ?" So South Africa, USA AND Australia should AND KICK OUT ALL THE WHITES, since THEY are the immigrants ??? You are soo dumb and probably from Germany/Holland/Switzerland or some other Nazi country

chilaxe said:

The reason South Africa has so much more wealth than it's neighbors is because European folks built it.

After they weren't in power anymore, the skyscrapers they built fell into decay, Detroit style.

Expect to see more of that as Whites become minorities in all of their nations (except Russia) in the coming decades.

People of all ancestries should vote against immigration if they like stable societies.

wOw, you and bob are just kings of the dodge aren't you.

I ain't going away bigot. Time for you to make a decision.

Don't give me that false equivalence BS, you don't have a different viewpoint, you have a demonstrably bad viewpoint.

I don't hate you, I pity you. I'm not the one that hates homosexuals and minorities,

people like you and lantern who judge people on the basis of skin color, and sexual orientation....

...are not good people, it's that simple. You are relics of the past.

It is socially acceptable to shame and call out people like you and lantern when we catch you voicing your antiquated ideas. Your social viewpoints are becoming less and less acceptable with each day. Even the right is slowly backing away on their attacks on minorities and homosexuals.

Your ideas...don't work, they never did.

I've told you and your pal lantern many times that you are free to be as backwards thinking as you want in the privacy of your own home and your own brain. But when you voice your bad ideas in public, expect to be called out and shamed.

You can play the victim card all you want. but you know it's not just me picking on you. Long before I ever showed up, you've been called out and shamed by many others here and you've been reprimanded by the staff of this website on multiple occasions. I'm willing to bet that unless you live in a hole in the ground in the deep south, you know better than to voice your ideas in public in real life since you know you'll get in trouble. Being an anonymous troll on a website is the only place you can voice your bad ideas, isn't it?

I understand that you're angry. The world changed on you and you're too set on your old ideas to change with it. Well you better hang on, because it's going to keep on changing and people who share your viewpoint will keep dying of old age. As it should be.

As I told lantern, start taking your own advice. You keep claiming that gays and minorites need to "suck it up".

Suck it up bob, suck it up. Why don't you practice what you preach about "rugged individualism" and quit whining? Take it like a man, right?

If you don't like it, go find a website that shares your viewpoints. Freedom of speech does not exist on a private website.

Deal with it. Your prejudice is only going to keep getting called out and you will continue to get shamed.

bobknight33 said:

@VoodooV Why do you have a deep hate of others with different view points? Lantern53 comments weren't so bad and not justifiable to be called a self-loather.
I'd bet that you are basically a good guy with different political/social points of view than Lantern and I. Heck you probably a great neighbor.

@lantern53
He's certainly a better comedian than President. So far, this is the highlight of his administration.

No, they are certainly not. They are stating they won't tolerate CERTAIN expressions of CERTAIN beliefs (in their private business) that have been determined to be unacceptable by those in the business group.
It would be out of 1984 if the FED had forced him out, the government had nothing to do with this though, so I'll just say I think you're wrong.
You make ridiculous assumptions based on skin color that one's with similar color must have a similar experience...I think that way of thinking has been proven to be incorrect and overly simplistic, and is a tool of racists, to homogenize people by 'race'. It simply isn't the way it works, classifying people by economic status is a much better way of classifying people with similar experience in my view.

lantern53 said:

They are not eradicating racism. They are only eradicating any personal expression of belief. Banning Donald Sterling from the NBA is right out of 1984.
Racism can only be eradicated by a realization that all people are created of God.
Personally, I will still gravitate toward white people, just as black people gravitate toward black people. It is due to shared experience.
When the movie Planet of the Apes was being filmed and the actors went off to eat lunch, the gorillas sat with the gorillas, the chimps sat with the chimps, and the orangutans sat with their fellows. It wasn't racism, it was shared experience.

Just as I would rather sit with a black cop than a white firefighter because the cop and I share a common experience.

Correct me if im wrong but you're making a comparison of animals of completely different species to an animal (humans) same specie just different race or skin color. Different races ARE NOT different species.

"Whitening" a black family in France

9547bis says...

Context:
After looking up the title on Youtube ("Dans la peau d'un Noir"), it turned out to be a documentary from 2007 where two French families, one black one white, "switched" their skin colors to experiment with discrimination (or its sudden absence, as the case may be). Its Wikipedia page mention John Howard Griffin's "Black Like Me" as an inspiration.

Additional note which I feel obliged to mention for American viewers: there were no minstrel shows, and so there is no concept of "blackface", in Europe. Of course disguising yourself into some sort of racial stereotype would bring the same type of reaction as anywhere else (or so I hope), but just changing your skin tone would not be considered offensive in itself.

10 Things You Didn't Know About South Park

jwray says...

Why do they hate Family Guy?

And why is it only Muslims who still get upset enough at irreverent media to seriously deter its production with predictable threats of violence? To hell with all chilling effects and censorship based on outrage based on bronze age myths. Every threat against a speaker should and usually does spawn dozens more like him in solidarity with the threatened speaker. On the internet this is known as the Streisand effect and it's pretty much inevitable. The assholes making death threats against cartoonists are way behind the times. "Islamophobia" acquiring the opprobrium of racism is absurd. Religion is a choice like becoming a member of the asshole tea party, not something unchangeable that you're born with like skin color. One might as well coin a term "Republicanophobia" and apply it to any harsh critic of the Republican party. All religions are rotten to the core just as all major parties are rotten to the core. But some religions are worse than others and some parties are worse than others, notwithstanding individual variability.

Ahh, to be either free or above the limitations of our skin color. I am neither and so I envy that. This man opens his mouth and your opinions are instantly put on hold.

That's a super power.

My wife has that super power and it's amazing to see the flicker in people's eyes when they hear her talk. And then the multitude of international experiences that flood forth. Instant audience engagement.

Racial boundaries. How silly. And funny.

Jon Stewart VS Megyn Kelly and Fox News

SveNitoR says...

True about skin color > religious orientation. However, being Jewish has nothing to do with skin color today. 2000 years ago, however, (most?) Jews lived in the middle-east and being born in Bethlehem, meant the person did not in any way have the same skin color as what we depict in our churches. Of course the skin color would likely be brighter than in Africa, but still not north european "white". To be honest both white and black is a pretty poor description of skin color in general.

Skin color > than ethnic/religious/sexual orientation. Jews are treated white over black people. If we cannot understand this we don't understand true racism. So yeah, I would say Jesus was white. A white Jew, like John Stewart perhaps. Now he wasn't Anglo American, that's for sure.

..good thought.
Yes, I think maybe voices speaking against sexism should be at least as prevalent as those reinforcing it.
. It is also pretty clear that sexism is, at least on the Internet, more widely tolerated than racism. Perhaps some of that is due to a shared inherent tendency to view people with a sex/gender that we are generally attracted to differently. "Wow, she's attractive" may be an inevitable thought, whereas "people with that skin color are usually dumb" is not.
. Still, the ramifications of expressing those thoughts need a more prominent place in the public consciousness. Most of us have learn not to grab asses when it would be hurtful, we should learn not to comment on them in similar contexts.

But, she has made me rethink that. By engaging trolls you at the very least give some solidarity and support to the victim. And by ignoring them there's the risk of giving the impression that we find their degrading sexual harassment acceptable.
