4 Revolutionary Riddles

Jinx says...

1) Some sort of viscous liquid, like honey.
2) Yeah... I thought v1=1 and v2=3, but then I realised that was actually more like t1=3, t2=1 which is not quite what the question asked.
3) Most of the bike will go forwards.
4) First thought was the wheels, but it would only ever be the very outside edge of the wheel in contact with the ground, only on driven wheels, and only if the wheel was slipping.

edit. I knew there was a reason it had to be a train and not a car. The rims of the train wheels extend past the contact point with the rails, so they will be moving backwards (well, part of them) even if the wheels don't slip.

The wheel nut is retained in the rim for exactly that reason, and I'm sure the design has other features to avoid cross threading.

That said though, it does occasionally occur in races and is guaranteed to mess up someone's race when it does.

I would love to know how those power wrenches don't cross-thread the wheels. I can do that with little effort, despite my best intentions.

Pixels review - he really didn't like this movie..

ChaosEngine says...

If only there was some kind of video distribution service where you could watch some of movie bobs other reviews before making an uninformed judgement...

Basically, you're completely wrong. He hates this because it deserves it. I don't always agree with Moviebob, but at least he's honest about a movie and whet here he hates it (Man Of Steel, this abomination) or loves it (avengers, Pacific Rim), you'll know about it.

Kinda feel the same way ninety seconds into this review as the gentleman stated he felt after ninety minutes into the film in question. I would wager to guess that this is his shtick and his other reviews tend to run in a similar, vitriolic vein.

On a road racing bike, how does he does these stunts?

ChaosEngine says...

Only time you'll ever see a road biker with flat pedals

My initial response was that this is mental, but it isn't that insane when you think about it. Trials bikes are almost closer to road bikes than mountain bikes these days (rim brakes, no suspension, etc), so the skills would transfer.

Just goes to show it's the rider, not the bike. (which explains why I still suck at mountain biking even on my flash new bike )

BTW, just to clarify, this isn't a road bike who decided to try these stunts, it's a (world class) trials biker who decided to try it on a road bike.

Health warning!!! Lemon wedges in your drinks can kill you!

BicycleRepairMan says...

Diseasecausing , fecal and other bacteria are literally EVERYWHERE. They get on to everything we eat and drink, the stuff we touch.. everywhere. They are however pretty harmless in small quantities.

For instance, I'd probably worry more about using an Iphone, and then touching the rim of the glass afterwards. If you wanna get paranoid about it, try microscoping a swab from the glass of your phone touchscreen. thats the dirtiest place on earth.

Our bodies have evolved to live in dirty environments, so dont worry too much about it. wash your hands and do the normal hygiene stuff, and you probably wont die from fecal bacteria.. Just order a strong drink and wait for the alcohol to kill it
