"Weeds" Season 4 Promo
hey let's rip off requiem for a dream frame-by-frame
Ass to ass!
Nah, I was thinking of http://www.videosift.com/video/Inappropriate-DirectHD-Commercials
I haven't seen Requiem for a Dream, but this scene just saddens me. I suppose it is a tale of human misery to boot, so it's not that weird.
Operatic platform game
Funny you should say it is opera because this is actually from what is jokingly referred to as Verdi's "greatest opera."
The joke is that it is not an opera, but rather Verdi's Requiem. More specifically, it is the Dies Irae... The requiem was one of Verdi's last compositions and often referred to as rather operatic... but yeah, excellent music/action combination.
Inappropriate DirectHD Commercials
Hehe, after seeing that scene I was intrigued too. It's Requiem for a Dream.
>> ^Xax:
What was that last movie?
Cupcake Dog - Revelation
>> ^slafleur:
Requiem for a Dream by Clint Mansell, I believe.
More specifically "Lux Aeterna" from the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack and I believe what they are using here is a remix that was made for the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers trailer and is known as Requiem for a Tower.
Cupcake Dog - Revelation
Requiem for a Dream by Clint Mansell, I believe.
How do you buy music? (Music Talk Post)
I can say for years that I too detested iTunes for the DRM. But after a while, and given my patience with computing (which led me down the path of working in IT) I kinda gave in, bought a second hand iPod Nano, and have been happy since.
But to answering your questions:
1. I consider the old experiment of putting a frog in boiling water vs cold then slowing boiling them to death. The idea is the frog gets use to latter and won't jump out even when it's near death.
The RIAA, on the other hand, reacted like the former when presented with Napster. It existed, almost literally, under their noses. They had no "warming up" period to the idea of digitally available music. Because of the initial knee-jerk reaction they whole of the association is still reeling from the notion that anyone could rip them off in a few clicks. The slowness is due to the hard coding of the idea, in executive heads, that the control of the physical media the music is listened to on is paramount. Given that you can rip tracks from a CD or convert files from one format to another and from one device to another, this isn't possible. Draconian is my usual word for mentality because of this. They missed the boat for the digital age and are slowly dying at an industry because of it. A very slow death, but a death nonetheless.
2. All that above being said, your options right now are limited.
Thats all I have to say. There are way to support artists but not the industry, but they require you to work at it.
Republicans and Military Men on John McCain
It's the score from Requiem For A Dream.
Halo 3 And Halo Wars - Escape
Enough already with the Requiem for a Dream cue.
One Brutal Scene From Pan's Labyrinth
The title is wrong. This isn't even a scene. It's an excerpt from a scene.
There's no fantasy interwoven in that clip. I don't understand why you think it's worth posting unless you enjoy seeing people murdered with no context whatsoever. You didn't even include the whole scene. that would make this clip a small story unto itself. As it is it's just snuff.
This clip actually has negative value as I feel it takes away from the viewing experience for those who have not yet seen the film. I will always downvote clips like this, same as:
- Any "X Production" where some asshole has laid his favourite music over film footage (90% of the time it's from Requiem For A Dream)
- Posts showing all the good parts of a movie
- Posts of highly cinematic scenes that do not belong in Flash Video format
- Spoilers, final scenes, opening scenes, key scenes
Leon - The Massacre and Mathildas Escape
Mainly I downvoted in reaction to the "A XXX XXX Production" at the beginning of the clip. These days every asshole with basic video editing software thinks he's got a production company because he's figured out slow motion and decoupling audio\video. This is not a fucking production it's just some fanboy wank.
How about everyone just calm down with the addding music to every single god damn clip... I'd rather see the exact same clip with the actual sound from the movie. That I would upvote. You may as well have put farting noises over the movie, it would have the same benefit to me as putting Requiem for a Dream music over it.

we get it that song in requiem for a dream is poignant, but i am sure there is other music out there for poignant messages.
The Most Dramatically Normal Day Ever
/\ This is a parody of movie trailers, and the use of this score (which I believe is from Requiem for a Dream) is part of that parody.
