Worst Videogame Product Placement Yet (Alan Wake)

NordlichReiter says...

I was thinking of buying it. But not now.

When I bought Rainbow Six Vegas and I saw the add placement for Repo-men I was disgusted. Rainbow Six Vegas sucks too. The multi-player was horrendous.

Ron Paul: I Think They're Going To Destroy The Dollar!

NetRunner says...

@Lawdeedaw, the Dodd bill isn't a knockoff copy of Audit the Fed, it's a bill that mostly focuses on regulating banks to try to prevent the super-craziness with derivatives, leverage, and repo, as well as a bit in there about trying to regulate disclosures for regular consumers.

However, Paul's exact Audit the Fed language will be introduced as an amendment by Bernie Sanders (I-VT, and has in the past called himself a Democratic Socialist).

Paul's sending out e-mail to supporters asking them to call their Senators to vote to kill the Dodd bill.

He's not asking them to call and support his Audit the Fed amendment, he's asking them to kill the bill that it might be an amendment to, while at the same time I'm getting campaign e-mail from several Democrats (not just Grayson) asking me to call my Senators in support of the Audit the Fed amendment.

I find it sad and infuriating that Paul's PAC is whipping against the bill on the same day he's out mugging for the cameras about an amendment to the bill he wants to kill.

If it becomes law, it will be despite his efforts, not because of them.

Towing a car from a tight space

robbersdog49 says...

cooolllll, do you mean by the thief? And do you have a source for that info?

Having worked with a repo driver I can say that being able to stay in the cab would be a good thing sometimes! I think Payback has it about right.

Towing a car from a tight space

When I drove truck, I preferred the old winch and sling system for repo work. The damage caused to the vehicles were the responsibility of the cockroach delinquent owners. Gave me a good feeling when I could cause grief to some fucktard who bought a car beyond his means. You could tell the ones. Corvette driver living in low income housing or a basement suite, etc etc. Anyone who "lost their job" or suffered some sort of setback usually made a deal with the financing company to either keep their ride by paying interest only for a while, or got something cheaper. I would totally toast anyone who would try to hide their car or park it hard.

You won't find this sort of tech on anything other than repo or parking lot impound trucks. AAA trucks are designed for safety of the vehicle, not speed of getaway.

DeLorean repossession gets surreal as owner turns into MJ

evil_disco_man says...

Re-enactment, hah! I bet the story was that "one time someone had to repo a DeLorean" and they made the rest up.

Even if they presented it as a re-enactment, it still sucks, but I haven't seen them make that known on their show. They're trying to fool the viewers into thinking it's all real, and that's not cool. Yeah, yeah, all reality shows are set up in some way, but this one takes it to another level.

Anyway, sorry to rain on the parade. I'll move on now.

Well I just checked the Wikipedia entry for Operation Repo:

Operation Repo is an American television program where a fictional repossession team from the San Fernando Valley in California re-enact the repossession of vehicles for finance companies.

Although as a channel, truTV is described as presenting "real-life stories told from an exciting and dramatic first-person perspective", Operation Repo consists of scripted re-enactments where the team is often confronted by actors portraying debtors and police officers in the repossessions.

So in other words, it's fake. Or at the very least only a re-enactment of something that may have actually happened.

Watch Shopaholic's Range Rover Get Reposessed

Rofl! There are some gems in that play list though. I just randomly clicked through some. There's one where bunch young girls got pulled over for speeding on their way to a sex toys party. And then there's one where a lady pukes on the repo-man. This is a goldmine!

I know you shouldn't bother with it if the story and characters are great, but I got so damn turned off by those bad CG animations that I don't think I could watch this without getting angry. =(
Must. Be. More. Tolerant. bangs head against the wall

Typical Hollywood sensibilities. Good Scifi has existed far longer than good CGI. Dr. Who, Metropolis, Tron, Videodrome, The BBC Hitchhiker's Guide, the original Star Wars, Time Bandits, Repo Man, Brazil... dare I throw out cult classic scifi shlep like Krull, Rocky Horror Picture Show, or the ingenius (though not scifi) pre-LotR Peter Jackson flicks? You're killin' me, Smalls.

Keep living in your bubble DrPrawn, ignorance is bliss.
Because most of the right wing pseudo-scientists are now out of work (because their work can't stand up to peer review), does not mean that science has been hijacked, it means the attemped hijackers have been thrown off the plane and the pilot has regained control, you just don't like where the plane is going.
One thing you're at least partially right about, IF the population does get to 10 billion, we will consume the earths remaining resources. There's little question there.
Sad to say I'm a tough Moth*r F*cker, the bombs will likely kill you first, but I'm game. Anything that gets rid of more people is a good thing, if it doesn't doom the ones left. Can't someone develop the neutron bomb as described in Repo Man? "Eyes melt, skin explodes, everybody dies, but the infrastructure is left intact." If we could only make one that's human specific, war could be the next green movement!
