Big Budget Hollywood Movie About Noah's Ark with Russel Crow

Deano says...

It's all about the in play! (Subtle Ray Winstone reference).

I would love to have a laugh at this once it's on Netflix. Why does Anthony Hopkins always sound like he's phoning it in? Such an overrated actor.

And where's Ridley Scott? Thought he was married to Crowe?

I wonder if they'll go into the shipbuilding technology required to build a single super large vessel capable of surviving a world-wide flood?

Half in the Bag: Django Unchained and 2012 Re-cap

My vote for best film I saw this year was Dredd. Proof you can make an engaging, exciting action film which makes sense and has a strong protagonist without it being three hours long.

In the year I decided to return to the cinema I rarely saw anything that was really exciting or elevating. But I was surprised how dull and bloated some of the blockbusters turned out. Prometheus followed by Dark Knight were my main disappointments.

I saw some older films. Salt with Angelina Jolie was surprisingly fun. The Proposition with Guy Pearce is an outstanding Aussie Western which does bring me back to Django - it probably isn't as funny but I'll bet it's more powerful. It even survives having Ray Winstone.

Beowulf Theatrical Trailer

I just saw a sneak preview of this... it was bad. The action scenes were really good, but the character animation was terrible. It was like the Polar Express -- everyone looked real, but creepily off somehow, and they weren't really able to convey a full range of emotions. Ray Winstone was really good, though.

Sexy Beast: No, No, No, No, No, No, No . . .

I enjoyed Ray Winstone's performance in Sexy Beast more than Kingsley's. Kingsley is playing the opera house in this film.

Great film, though. Does Glazer have to marry a washed up pop star to get more attention?

"Sexy Beast" - Great Moments in Cinema

Farhad2000 says...

Sexy Beast (2000) is a British film directed by Jonathan Glazer, starring Ray Winstone, Ben Kingsley and Ian McShane. It was Glazer's debut feature film, having previously been a director of music videos such as the acclaimed "Rabbit In Your Headlights" for British electronic group U.N.K.L.E., which features vocals by Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke.

That last bit should interest you all very deeply.

The film earned Kingsley an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. In 2004 the magazine Total Film named Sexy Beast the 15th greatest British film of all time.

Another favorite.
