Oof…Fawni Willis is indicating she intends to file DOZENS of indictments in Georgia next week, including RICO charges.
No judge Cannon in Georgia to save him, his racist spitballed baseless accusations against her won’t help. His attempts to challenge the case, the venue, and the prosecutor were all dismissed.
Next year is going to be busy for him and his cadre of horrificly bad lawyers.

Side note- Evangelical pastors are complaining that when they read the words of Jesus they get complaints from the congregation “Where did you get these liberal talking points?” And when they point out these are the words of Jesus according to the gospel they say “But they’re weak. That crap doesn’t work anymore. Stop preaching that.” 😂

SHOCKER! Joining Trumpism, the very antithesis of their religion, has destroyed them, made them literally turn away from the words of Jesus to embrace the hateful racist self serving words of a rapist, thief, and fraud. Doesn’t the Bible actually warn against exactly that?
I hope their temporary abortion bans were worth it…and can’t wait for 2025 when Dems have a super majority and codify national abortion rights in the constitution forever. Until then, even conservative states are doing it on a state level despite their legislatures fighting the populace tooth and nail to stop them. How do they think that’s going to play out in 2024? 😂 Thanks Trump!

High School Senior Takes Book Banners To School

luxintenebris jokingly says...

seems to be a theme.

(or are you aware?)

please, shame is an emotion no right-winger has room to preach about.

when did you read about sex? being young IS the time!

crap - read 'Lolita' - 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' - even some Anis Nin - & would wage am no more twisted than thou. (well...some areas might keep up with you...) 'tho also read 'The Fountainhead' & found it more offensive (no sex, not even a mention of a nipple) so there are far worse things than saucy, non-sanctioned ball play.

Pete Buttigieg Perfectly Articulates Republican Behavior

luxintenebris says...

Less well known [than other paradoxes] is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.—In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.

Vote While It Counts

spawnflagger says...

my favorite was the Arizona "recount" where Cyber Ninjas tallied 99 additional votes for Biden and 261 fewer votes for Trump than previously counted...

some other "findings" in their report also debunked:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/09/28/fact-check-arizona-audit-affirms-biden-win-doesnt-prove-voter-fraud/5846640001/

Why is it so hard to believe that people who were going to vote for Trump would listen to what he was preaching for weeks and months beforehand, and go vote in-person on the day; whereas people who were going to vote for Biden believed COVID-19 was actually real and more likely to use mail-in voting because it's safer and more convenient?

Disagreement About Masks at Christmas 2021 in Math Class

newtboy says...

@bcglorf
Reading bible passages in class as “something we can all agree on” is the definition of proselytizing to a captive audience….and outside of private religious schools is totally inappropriate.

It’s not “fun” to be ostracized in public because you believe different mythology or are smart enough to ignore all stone aged mythology…..really only disbelieving one more myth than the believers.

Getting the season completely wrong because you don’t know it was chosen to make it easier to use religion as a political tool is a bit different from “the exact date being inaccurate”. It’s an outright, bold faced, well documented lie, created as a political ploy from the 4th century used to degrade and absorb Zoasterism/Mithraism in order to control the masses politically. That is absolutely a “credibility” issue, and if you don’t get it, that’s an education and/or ethics issue. Christianity has many major credibility issues, being “created” (codified) as a political tool is just one of them. Stealing almost every bit of the mythology from previous religions and denying it is another.

Yes, the misuse of Fauci clips out of context is another issue of truthfulness here, but those who are intentionally ignorant of the reality they just lived through are lost and not worth wasting my breath on. As anyone with two brain cells knows, the first, “you don’t need to wear a mask in public” was recommended at that time because a massive mask shortage meant health care workers had to reuse paper masks sometimes for months during a major pandemic, (and clearly they needed priority on the limited supply) not because we had information saying they weren’t useful….but that’s a minor detail of history I feel only brain dead ignoramuses consider in question, relevant, or factual, and they have discarded fact, truth, reason, and logic in favor of their cult of personality….so there’s no real point arguing with them. Just let them get Covid and hope for EIA.

Preaching one religion in a public class room and claiming “we all agree” is a continuation of a much more pernicious, long term, continuing battle for the religious freedom our country was founded on, and I find it outrageous and anti American that you dismiss it as nothing. I can only hope your children’s teachers aren’t a vastly different, contradictory religion than you and they don’t teach your children that everyone agrees with their religion, not yours, and don’t use proveable fallacies to make their point….but if they do I’ll be here to dismiss your concerns.

Make America Great Again

moonsammy says...

Reminds me a lot of this video. We should all be highly suspect of anyone preaching that such-and-such group is a problem, or is planing to "destroy the country" or other vague alarming threats. All "othering," all encouragement of hatred, leads to evil ends.

Don't be a sucker

moonsammy says...

This is fantastic. Thank you for posting.

While he doesn't really get into politics, a while back Destin from Smarter Every Day had a brief discussion on the topic of "political grace." Basically, don't hold people's beliefs against them, as they may come to them with entirely good intentions. A challenging concept to actually practice, particularly when everyone can probably think of many examples of "how the fuck can anyone possibly believe this insane bullshit" that they've personally encountered. The audience members in this video are a solid example of why political grace matters though, as none were villains but some made some truly egregious decisions. We should look for those who preach unity and forgiveness, and be wary of those who sow division.

Dishonest,

Emotions,
sparking in our brains from all the lies.
I can’t breathe,
you’re choking me, I swear I’m the wrong guy.
I can’t speak,
the color of my skin makes me a liar.
Disarm the flock,
of human pigs.
If they meant no harm,
why would they need
these shiny guns?
Against these kids who were unarmed and full of fear,
protect and serve?
You’re not fooling me!
Now what?
They’re gone and you’re excused?
No future…No resolution…
This place used to be different.
Everyone was nicer.
Some of you would even help another.
Now we fight about the differences, that some of us just carry.
In our blood and in our genes and the place my mom was born.
Retired men
are freaking out
with all these kids,
that are coming out.
Leave them alone!
And continue living your boring reality.
They are superstars,
and you are nothing!
Holy shit!
They won’t stop!
Blaming it on being old school?
No excuses!
Not anymore!
Racist homophobes,
preaching the wrong words,
your time is fucking done!
You want freedom of speech?
You make me fucking sick!
Your future’s obsolete!

And the time will come when we’ll be free to be who we are or wear what we pleased without being scared. The time is now!

The Documented Truth About Trump Collusion and Obstruction

newtboy says...

Lol.

Apparently the far right still needs to learn it has no credibility. Trotting out sycophantic Trump morons to preach more garbage isn't helping and isn't working anymore.

Even our military has no credibility anymore, and our allies no longer trust us. This is thanks to the dishonesty of right wing administrations, not left.

That's why Trump is having daily fits over his poll numbers continuing to fall, and he's never neared 50% approval, and why there are still so many pending cases against the administration based on the evidence you refuse to believe exists.
It doesn't go unnoticed that you can't factually contradict what they said, so you simply dismiss it without reason.

Also, note that your pilot was denied asylum and returned to Palestine.

God gives people grace in many ways. One of those ways is by communicating His will through the preaching of His word. The hearing of the word imparts faith, which is a gift from God. You're wondering how you believe; when you listen to the word with a good heart God will give you the faith to believe it. He will also confirm His word with supernatural signs and wonders.

I don't know how true your appraisal is of those who have told you about the Lord, but your situation is better than those who have never heard. Plus you have me, newtboy, and I'm sure that makes you feel extremely fortunate. Yet scripture tells us that even if the messenger is bad it doesn't negate your responsibility. Faith and reason are complimentary. I think this quote is true: Christianity has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found too difficult and not tried.

I can't speak for the myriad of pretenders but there has only ever been one man who died for your sins. Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah that Moses and the prophets wrote about in the Old Testament. There are exact prophecies like the 70 weeks of Daniel which predict the exact date of His death for our sins. I believe what I believe because I have been changed by His grace. That's my only motivation in telling you or anyone about this, because He is real and you can know that for yourself. You can know that by putting even a slight intellectual effort into understanding the problem. You will find that there are good reasons to believe that God is real and good reasons to believe Jesus is who He said He is. I am a flawed vessel but I serve a God who doesn't need me to prove that He is real. He sends me because He is inviting you to seek Him and be saved.

"Warned about"....by Noah, not God, right? So Noah failed to convince them it was true, no? If they knew it was coming because they KNEW God was real and had warned them himself...good riddance, they must have been incredibly dumb or suicidal.

I've been warned that Zenu is coming back too....I've been warned that Vikings will pour over a rainbow and murder the world, or many other tales that existed far longer than this Jesus guy's been heard of. I've only been warned of these things by humans who were clearly delusional (or liars), never anyone trustworthy. When the message is unbelievable, and so is the messenger, and the proof is "believe", and there are dozens of contradictory messages with exactly the same level of proof, the idea that a person should choose correctly or suffer eternal punishment is the definition of evil.

If God withholds judgment capriciously out of fickle mercy based on no discernable pattern or rule, and just as often punishes the righteous and rewards the wicked as the reverse, how is that different from random chance?

Why do you stubbornly deny the undeniable existence of El and his son Ba'al, though you see their works daily? Their tales, which predate even the earliest Hebrew scriptures or stories, prove their hand in your existence, yet you refuse to give your devotion and would unfairly discredit them and hand all credit to this Johnny come lately deity. Mot shall have you if you don't repent.
Sounds silly, doesn't it?

No, it wasn't Noahs failing. The scripture says he preached righteousness, so the message was endorsed by God. The reason no one was converted was not due to a failure on Noahs part, or Gods. The message wasn't misunderstood, it was rejected by a wicked generation, which was their free will choice to do so. Because they rejected Gods message they weren't prepared when the flood came. The choice to reject God doesn't eliminate the consequences of rejecting God, in this case being unprepared for the impending global flood which you were warned about for 100 years. In the same sense you are unprepared for the impending second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, which you have been warned about your entire life.

When God withholds or suspends judgment out of mercy, ironically it has the opposite effect on the callous hearts of men:

Ecclesiastes 8:11

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil

Because you don't see God out and out punishing people when they do evil, you feel free to live how you want regardless. That is how the pre-flood world felt, and that is why they were swept away. In your ongoing effort to put the worst possible spin on everything in scripture, you neglect to understand the fundamental narrative of the story. The reason for that is your stubborn refusal to say God did something good even when it is integral to the narrative which you use to unfairly discredit Him.

Good question, BSR.

I wasn't a Christian until I'm in my 30's. But throughout my 20's, I occasionally get asked if I'm a Christian whenever I was just being nice/helping people. So after a dozen times getting asked that, I went to a church event from a Christian friend and got involved. I only wanted to get baptized after I read the whole Bible cover-to-cover.

I really don't get attached to the church much, although I do go every Sunday & have fellowship 3, 4 times a month. Not getting attached in the sense that knowing church is like any organization with lots of people - it's natural their hearts & minds tends to go to the daily running of the church (Getting more people into church, donations vs expenses, etc.) and communal/social side of things more than the spiritual-growth side.

I'm more of a "Jesus Follower" type of Christian I guess? not impressed with organized religion, but I just agree and put myself into practicing what Jesus preach to people, his simple commandments: Love God & my neighbors. Looking at Jesus as a humanitarian philosopher perspective, I can't believe He doesn't want us to make this Earth a better place. He's all about understanding, accepting and instill love & respect into everyone...

It's crazy to see people using and twisting religion to turn this world into - pardon my French - merde... how is this what Jesus wants? There are way too many people who just want the benefit (getting into heaven? bragging right? think Christianity is superior than others?) without the effort... these we call the "free-gift (read: cheap-fakes) gospel" that really have zero value and zero contribution to the betterment of the world.

You said it right. Jesus placed the world on his shoulder, if I call myself a Christian and I don't carry the cross as He does... I'm just lying to myself and to the world.

Still got the world on your shoulders I see.

A Bridge Between the USA and Russia

JiggaJonson says...

You know, the history of communism is complicated. The idea in principle seems nice enough, a government where everyone owns everything. Or as Marx puts it: "all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs."

But in reality, it's never been implemented. It's invariably the case that a ruling party emerges as the de facto "we'll make sure everyone is following the rules so that everything is fair and as soon as it's clear that everyone is following the rules, we'll relinquish power completely to the people."

Except...that second part NEVER happens. Russia? China? North Korea? Those are communist countries in name only. In reality, those are all totalitarian states by any definition. Any opposition to the ruling class when they are questioned ends in murder or massacre by the state; see https://newrepublic.com/article/117983/tiananmen-square-massacre-how-chinas-millennials-discuss-it-now

Freedom of political thought, religion, matters of economics are simply unavailable under "communist" rule.

There's decidedly very few ideas that are less democratic and less American than communism.

@bobknight33 you claim to be a patriot, I think you're a Russian troll who's assigned to this corner of the internet. Go preach your anti American propaganda in between borscht bites somewhere else please.
