Ai Generated Music Video - Deltron 3030 - Virus

shagen454 says...

Midjourney definitely has a *look*. It's impressive but I swear it can really only do a couple of pop art and fantasy styles well and that's about it, at least for now. This video is definitely a good use of it.

beardy man explains why indie is shit

bookface says...

Been saying it for years: indie is shit. It is pastiche pop art, meaning it's inherently derivative. Ironically, musicians and fans of indie fancy themselves counter-cultural (hipsters) when all they've managed to do is raid their parent's record collection and grandparent's wardrobe. Furthermore, there needs to be a moratorium on the following instruments: glockenspiel, celesta, toy piano, or any other bell like instrument. These are staples of the indie diet and they make any track INSTANTLY sound like a Target commercial. I could go on but indie will be dead and gone before I'd finish the rant.

Lady Ga Ga before she was famous

thinker247 says...

To all the haters:

If you'd read an interview of her, you'd understand that she did not sell out to become what she is today. She loves the showmanship and style of Freddy Mercury and pop art, which she incorporates into her show and videos.

If anything, staying the girl in this video would have made her a sell-out.

Agreeing with zomgunicorns, it's fantastic that she didn't become the next Snor-ah Jones.

What are your favorite album covers? (Art Talk Post)

MINK says...

am i allowed to do images?
i guess not.
well that kinda sucks for this thread.

anyway... a few off the top of my head, in no particular order because i love so many...

Blur: Parklife
They had a thing at the time for carefully using stock photography, instead of original images... which (as a pop art fan) I find really super cool. Also, their logo designer said "we wanted something that kids could draw on their schoolbag" which has become my golden rule of logo design. The album is about ...life (the dog race analogy is good!) and dog racing is a traditional british thing, another theme of the album. It's like they deliberately set up that perfect shot just for the album cover.... but actually they picked it from a catalogue. Pop art rules.

Radiohead: Amnesiac
This is just soooooooooo Radiohead, so perfect for the music, such good typography, my favourite colours, everything is cool and makes me want to play it again.

The Beatles: Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band
You don't seriously need me to write something here do you?

FSUK #1
Awesome compilation of breakbeaty things from the nineties, "Future Sound Of The United Kingdom #1" ...very nice artwork. "messy" is a very hard style to do right. Sorry this is a bad jpg but it's hard to find.

agree with the text chosen....too hard to read at first glance...
green on the coconut, perhaps a frog zappin a fly with its tongue, perched on the edge..

Viral needs the Bio-Haz symbol!

The Warhol reference reminds me of soup, not his pop-art trip...
A sift with paint splotch action, or Dali jugglin' the kitties, standing inside...

Animation, with the WB logo with Videosift across it.....DANGER! How bout a buncha celluloid hanging from the top, with one frame enlarged and colorized, with a cartoon mallet hitting a head with stars....etc.....?

Amazing Spray Paint Artist

daphne says...

There's a guy here that does this every weekend on 6th Street. He is much better than this guy (he does pop art, animals, and people...he says the "Space" theme is for beginners) but like darkrowan, I vote for the medium.

He said that there is an underground network of artists who teach each other techniques. The starter artist usually travels the country and "apprentices" until he wants to go out on his own. They even have "guest street corner bookings" for artists who are really good. It's amazing how wide-spread this is.
