Biden and the June job reports

mram says...

What an amazingly inaccurate statement.

Contextually, during Trump, I ended up with less money in my pocket. If you're going to be absolutist, you're completely wrong. The question you now have to ask is ... just how wrong are you?

Out of context, there are so many ways Captain Orange made us worse. What you're saying with this one statement is so worshipping that you really need therapy, unless you're a white nationalist bigot woman hating insolent xenophobe, which he pushed into the mainstream and made the US a laughing stock in the world.

Note I'm not saying you are, truly, but captain orange is a really really bad person and should not ever be the national leader of anything - except a poster child of how not to behave and model your children from. The only reason he survives at all is R solidarity and horse-blinder politics.

The origins of oil falsely defined in 1892

newtboy says...

When your grasp on reality is broken, you can be convinced of any nonsense.

I wonder how this man profits from spreading this misinformation.

So you know, bob. Oil isn’t made out of dinosaurs, it’s made up mostly of decomposed diatoms, algae, zooplankton, and other microorganisms, transformed under heat and pressure.
It is a finite resource.
If we burn it all, it’s CO2 emissions alone would cause an estimated approximately 200 ft of sea level rise (and likely near total planetary extinction).

PS- shouldn’t it be “The oranges of oil falsely defined in 1892”?

City of Akron responding to the shooting of Jayland Wlaker

newtboy says...

You absolutely deviate from that.
You never see wrong from Orange people, and rarely from white, but see nothing but wrong from darker skinned people.

You just see white and black and think it’s the same thing as right and wrong.

I don’t judge people by anything but actions….that leaves most people on my shit list, melanin levels have no bearing on that.
Outfit?

Yes, it is hypocritical because, yes, you did back Bundy at the time and were outraged he was shot, even though he took over a park armed, threatened rangers and police, shot his gun, and fled from police before being shot still armed. Hard to handle that with the courts when he’s on the highway shooting.
You supporting him and were angry, saying those cops didn’t need to shoot him, but are cheering on cops shooting an unarmed man running away no longer threatening anyone… 60 times. The difference? One was extremely more dangerous, violent, armed, and white. You only see the other one as the problem. That’s hypocritical.
I see 60 shots as the problem, and don’t believe the police version that he even fired his gun without proof.

Government overreach? Are you talking about Bundy’s other anti government armed action when he stole grazing from public lands and held off law enforcement with an armed violent militia, which you supported? Cheering him on for refusing to pay for using public lands for private profits and using deadly force against law enforcement? I’m talking about when he violently took over a park for months with more armed violent militia….which you also supported.

My life is pretty good. I have empathy for those less fortunate. I know you can’t understand thinking about someone else’s situation, but it used to be considered normal…real conservatives know that.

Lol…I’m not on any other social media at all, and I rarely get my news here. Sucker. Nice try, but I look for actual sources, not nut jobs saying what I want to hear, like Trump who got the election fraud fraud from an anonymous Twitter account.
It’s pretty telling that you think the way to “truth and understanding “ is remove all sources of information. What exactly do your eyes see with your head in that dark hole? Mine are wide open in the sunshine, sunshine. I see not only the “truth”, but also the various attempts at lies, and being (and keeping myself) fairly well educated I can tell the difference, a trait I’m afraid you sorely lack, friend. Thanks so much for the offer, but it’s like a deaf and blind man offering to lead someone with glasses across the freeway.

On the contrary, we’ve been here for you for over a decade, calmly explaining reality as you scream nonsense and fear monger. We will be here tomorrow. Assuage your fear of abandonment and maybe you can begin to think rationally.

bobknight33 said:

Wrong is wrong and I've never deviated from that. You see the color of ones skin or outfit and judge.

I just see right and wrong.

You judge by color first.

Running from the cops and shooting you gun while flying and then get shot for you own actions is your own damn fault.

Me pointing it out is not racist or hypocritical .

You thinking it is makes you a narrow minded fool.

Did I back Bundy? Even with "government overreach" this should have been handled by the courts.

Newt, you really come off as a educated bitter little man. You must have been screwed over in you life to carry such a big chip on your shoulder.

I'm here for you. I can lead you to truth and understanding.
Step 1 Turn off all news and social media for 2 months.
Step 2 open you eyes to reality.

Trump Wanted Armed Groups At His Jan 6 Rally

mram says...

Actual trials for election conspiracy have all failed. All failed. All of them. There is no conspiracy. Orange man lost. He lost. Actual trials in actual courts of law.

Everything else is smoke and mirrors. ... oh and actual attempts to keep holding on to power that he knew he lost.

America is built on the peaceful transfer of power.
If he knew he won, he didn't need to fight like hell for it.
If he knew he lost, he shouldn't fight like hell for it.
So why fight?

That's at least one crime.

Trump Wanted Armed Groups At His Jan 6 Rally

newtboy says...

Unsurprising, you cherry pick the one non crime mentioned then say something amounting to “look, that’s not a crime, it just indicates Trump is an infant that throws physical tantrums….that’s my man.”
And actually it is a crime, destruction of public property and vandalism of the White House….not that you care.
Also, it shows how outraged Trump was that there was no massive fraud. He wanted there to be fraud, he needed there to be fraud, or at least a lie that there was fraud, and was OUTRAGED there was no fraud and more so that Barr had admitted the truth. It shows how he is 100% not qualified emotionally to hold ANY office, much less the highest on earth.

Nice ignoring the physical attacks against secret service members while trying to personally lead the violent attack against America and the lynching of his own VP.
Good job ignoring him trying to let heavily armed crowds join his rally meant to march to the capitol building….armed to the teeth with everything from bear mace and spears to groups carrying assault weapons wearing tactical body armor.
Nice ignoring that he knew his crowd was heavily armed when he told them to fight hard at the capitol building and don’t let them certify the election (he may have said “don’t let them steal your country” , a distinction without a difference).
Be proud of ignoring all the Republicans who admitted knowing they committed crimes in an attempt to overthrow what they knew undeniably was a certified, fair, secure election by asking for pardons for their crimes they committed for Trump, including Trump’s chief of staff. Put your head in a little farther and you might be able to see out of your own throat.

Covfefe
Oranges of the investigation
Trump is no mental genius….and Biden handed him his ass without even holding rallies.
So….Sleepy Joe doesn’t need to be awake or conscious at all to be a much better president. Is that a compliment to Joe, a swipe at Trump, or both?

PS- kudos for admitting Biden actually is the current POTUS. I know that’s hard for you.

PPS- add to that news of Melania’s absolute refusal (by text, so recorded) to put out a statement calling for a halt to violence…..because they needed that violence and she expected her husband to be leading it.

California is Running Out of Water

cloudballoon says...

Countries like Israel, due to its geolocation/geopolitical climate, it's a desalination powerhouse. California can do the same. But a balanced approach (environmental harm vs. human necessity vs. commercial viability) is hard to achieve:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/california-regulator-rejects-plan-desalination-plant-2022-05-13/

Hope that California can gets its act together quick enough w/ more water recycling plants:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/worlds-largest-water-recycling-plant-located-in-orange-county-getting-major-expansion/ar-AAYLkXL

Some real & fair regulation & enforcement, with violators getting punished helps (HA!).

Hayes: NRA "Good Guy With A Gun" Theory Failed In Real Time

newtboy says...

Hard to find complete data on that timeframe….

There have actually been 212 so far just 5 months into this year alone with 251 deaths…if you extrapolate from this year’s rates, that’s 6000 dead in the last decade from mass shootings…but I think it’s less because mass shootings are on the rise since 2016.

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting?page=8

And here’s a list of over 10 years narrowed to incidents of 4 or more deaths that adds up to 601 in the last decade…so extremely conservatively at least double that if you account for the vast majority of mass shootings that end with <4 deaths, likely triple or more.
https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/12/mass-shootings-mother-jones-full-data/

No matter how you count, it’s more than Chicago over one year (including police shootings? Suicides?)
Apples to oranges anyway.

Wonder why you chose Chicago….hmmmmm….why could it be?….

St. Louis, MO (69.4 murders per 100000 residents)
Baltimore, MD (51.1)
Las Vegas, NV (31.4)
Kansas City, MO (31.2)
Memphis, TN (27.1)
Chicago, IL (24)

Oliver Stones thoughts on why Putin invaded Ukraine

"Ukraine on Fire"

Across its eastern border is Russia and to its west-Europe. For centuries, it has been at the center of a tug-of-war between powers seeking to control its rich lands and access to the Black Sea. 2014's Maidan Massacre triggered a bloody uprising that ousted president Viktor Yanukovych and painted Russia as the perpetrator by Western media. But was it? "Ukraine on Fire" by Igor Lopatonok provides a historical perspective for the deep divisions in the region which lead to the 2004 Orange Revolution, 2014 uprisings, and the violent overthrow of democratically elected Yanukovych. Covered by Western media as a people's revolution, it was in fact a coup d'état scripted and staged by nationalist groups and the U.S. State Department. Investigative journalist Robert Parry reveals how U.S.-funded political NGOs and media companies have emerged since the 80s replacing the CIA in promoting America's geopolitical agenda abroad.

Amish response to covid

newtboy says...

You might notice they compare apples to oranges…
Different time periods, different shot levels, grouping mixtures, no clue which vaccine or which strain of covid they looked at, they all vary widely…I would prefer more standardized methods if I’m to make sense out of their data.

I’ve read studies that had similar results, and those with completely contradictory results. Some say natural immunity is better, longer lasting, some say the exact opposite. You can prove anything with statistics….forfty percent of all people know that.

It’s better off the bat because you don’t have to get the disease for the immunity…better again because with boosters it’s better than without them, double boostered likely being better than natural immunity in the same timeframes, or if not, close….also better because you KNOW you got the shots and have a widely accepted record of them, unless you get repeatedly tested you don’t KNOW you had covid…false positives happen…and you don’t get a record to show (for travel, etc).

The science isn’t clear, but it is clear that no immunity is permanent and none is total protection. Because all immunity fades rapidly, herd immunity is a myth.

Buttle said:

That does not seem to be entirely true. It is true that immunity declines, whether from vaccination or infection. It's not true that vaccination gives better or longer lasting protection than vaccination.

Stand By For An Important Announcement

newtboy says...

Me neither, but when I looked into what @noims mentioned, that’s what I found.

The overt abuse of power over their own stupidity is outrageous. Worse is the near total support he (and other moronic governors) have from their voters for these spiteful, illegal, retaliatory political moves that hurt them in the first place. It’s so sad the “rational” party has become the irrational party to save itself from extinction. Courting the morons among us was the most anti American thing I can recall.

I’m thinking of Florida, who just refused $165 million per year to cover all infrastructure and services in Orange County in a spiteful idiotic move against Disney for not going along with the anti gay laws the pedophile party just enacted. Not only that, they also effectively blocked Disney from any new construction, as if that’s good for Florida. Non Orange County residents seem to think this is a good move, but they likely won’t when their taxes go way up next year…OC taxes are expected to rise over 25% next year alone, likely far more in the coming years.

Next, maybe Musk can buy Disneyworld and ruin it too, and Disney can move to a state willing to put its sovereignty in their constitution.

spawnflagger said:

I hadn't heard about that story. Funny and sad at the same time. Definitely would get thrown out of court if the prosecutor did bring charges. Reporter did the right thing (telling them), it's a shame he's getting backlash of stupidity.

When it comes to sensitive data, the government and corporations have due-diligence requirements that weren't met here (even if it was unintentional/temporary), so maybe (IANAL) the teacher's union could file a class-action suit? They'd probably settle out of court for 1 year of LifeLock or some other such BS. Maybe the website was created by the Governor's grandson or nephew as a high school project? Mistake is worse than incorrect ACLs on a S3 bucket...

Three-Minute Video Explaining the Common Core State Standard

newtboy says...

You must love the 25% property tax increase he just levied on Orange county as retribution for Disney not supporting his “no gender in school” idiocy. The biggest property tax hike in history as a punishment for not falling in line….a tax hike that, thanks to Trump, is no longer deductible on federal taxes.

No sympathy for Disney, they gave Trump over $10 million. Reap what you sow…it’s going to make any additions they planned for Disney World all but impossible to permit, meaning Disney will no longer be investing in Florida, won’t be hiring contractors, buying construction supplies, won’t be paying for services like good roads, police, firemen, street lights, etc, hurting Florida more than the lost tax money….but for residents of Orlando this politically motivated attack is going to be extremely costly and will end the level of services provided by Disney until now….I think it’s over $160 million a year in bills they just transferred to their citizens over sour grapes…or as you say, doing a fair job.

Once again…..Biggest property tax hike ever, and an end to Disney construction, for purely political spiteful motives with absolutely no gains to the state, the county, residents, or anyone.

🤦‍♂️

The point is that Trump did nothing, ignored, minimized, and outright lied about Covid and people died at ever increasing rates while he called it a hoax.
Biden took it seriously and those insanely high infection and death rates almost instantly started falling in every category except for people who took medical advice from Trump. Those people continue to die today because they insist horse dewormer and hydroxycloraquin works for virus infections but vaccinations don’t.

You never have a point besides Orange Daddy good, anyone not following him bad. Trump and Putin smart, all others dumb.

Last Week in the Republican Party

luxintenebris says...

this should be the next big internet challenge: try to down a drink while listening to clips like these (w/o the slightest spit-take).

isn't it something, hearing the co-occurrence of mtg claim of never of having heard of the 4x polio vaccine, when the process is actually that? that's spooky dumb.

but that is a phenomenon have noticed over the years (just off the top o' head)...

- the orange scream admin's numerous typos (SOTU tickets, inaugural tickets...) selling it's self as the best ever
- blackburn quoting the declaration of independence while pontificating about the constitution, yet she is on the panel questioning a SCOTUS candidate
- w's sec of war not knowing the history of WWII when declaring adolph was elected
- the gop urging of obama to let an oil pipeline continue, yet the same co. having a major pipeline break, just days before the decision deadline

...the symmetry in their assertion of knowledge; then disproving the claim - many times in the same sentence - is surrealistic.

add this and their laws against schools...
