observational comedy is not a new thing. What the likes of Louis CK, Bill Burr, etc. do that's kind of different than "what's the deal with airline peanuts...I mean coooome ON" type of comedy, is they're honest about their everyday lives. They don't try to pander to what everybody knows, they tell what they know and either you can relate it to your life, or you can laugh at their life.

Never seen this guy before, but the whole time i was watching it i was thinking of the futurama episode with all the water-based life-forms. They had a water-based standup comic on there, and i just couldn't stop thinking that this guy was the template for that. Then i started thinking of other send-ups of what you'd consider stereotypical standup comedy;

"Ever done <this>? What's <THAT> all about!?!?!?!?!"
"When you <x> in the morning, do you ever <y>? And then you have to <z> just to <x> again?"

Is that a common american style, or is it an old-school style, or what is it? It's the first time i've seen the stuff that i always see parodied, not being parodied. Observational comedy or something is it?

And my final question is, is it a social faux pas to say you don't find this funny? People seem to revere this guy, it's the first time i've seen him and i was expecting him to be amazing from all that i've heard.

This series may not be as jam packed with great sketches as the previous two, but their social and political observational comedy is unbeatable right now
