Monsters

Payback says...

I was hoping for something different. Like SHE was a young "monster" and her looking human was self image... Or the monsters only choose little females and left the rest of people alone. Hell, I would have been satisfied the family is just a bunch of sick fucks playing mind games... true "monsters".

I'm sorry, man...I just don't get what you're trying to say. It looks like you're trying to shoe-horn an agenda — albeit an honorable one — on a video about poor sportsmanship.

Maybe we should be made more aware of the reality of kids' concussions. I would have to do more research though because that NPR article has NO information as to where the "estimated" number comes from. I hate to be that guy, but honestly, that guy is why we know that the earth is a sphere and it travels around the sun...you can't just believe everything you read.

Assuming that it's close to correct...or even if the actual number is 25% of all pre-college football players have experienced concussions, then I would agree that something should be done to fix it. But, like I said, this isn't a video about kids getting concussions, nor is it a video about bounty-gate. The fact of the matter is that those things are bad — hence why people have been fired/suspended. Despite the physical nature of the sport, the intent to maliciously hurt somebody is frowned-upon by a majority of the NFL. There is a big difference between seeing a good solid hit between the numbers, wrapping up the player, and taking him to the ground, and taking out his knee cap. I don't see what's hard to understand about that.

You're inventing a narrative of what I've said that isn't consistent with reality.
I never said I didn't like football.
I never said I no one should play it.
I never said everyone had to adopt my point of view.
I never said kids are playing football against their will.
I did say that the certainty of concussions is reason enough not to play.
I did cite statistics about concussions that happen to adolescents PRE-college
"of the nearly 5 million adolescents playing football below the college level, it's estimated that half have sustained concussions, a third of them on multiple occasions"
From: http://www.npr.org/2012/05/09/152250525/mind-games-football-and-h
ead-injuries

Stop being a pussy and let that virulent feeling of bloodlust wash over you when those players go down. As you said, they're paid as much as they are because they know the risks involved. If that's the case, this should be celebrated as part of the game, no?
I'm arguing for safety, but I'm a pussy. And you're arguing for the game, but dont want players to get hurt. I'm sure the Saints bounty scandal was limited to that team and nothing like that happens anywhere else. Oh wait... http://www.myfoxny.com/story/19667323/calif-kids-footbal

Cheer for the injuries that are part of this culture or call for better safety, I say.

So? Climbing trees is the result of broken arms and legs...what the fuck do you want? Stop pussifying this country. Very rarely are kids playing football against their will. Especially at the level where concussions are happening (high school and up). Stop trying to force the world to adopt your views on everything. You don't like football so NOBODY SHOULD PLAY IT? What the fuck kind of view is that? You might as well be a Christian telling me that we should be teaching creationism in school. Different points, same obnoxious tenacity and narrow point of view.>> ^JiggaJonson:

@rottenseed
I stand by my original comment, and the risk is more than likely, it's a near certainty. You're supporting a game that is the sole cause of roughly 2.5 million concussions diagnosed in adolescents each year. Roughly 1.5 million of those kids will sustain multiple concussions.
There's also Kurt Warner's telling NBC that his son's playing football is a thought that "scares [him]" But hey, I guess you'd probably expect that from someone who feels as though "Playing through concussions is part of the game."
I feel like a decent human being would try to stop them from putting themselves in harms way, not hoping they don't get hurt when they play with fire.
From my point of view, you're the one cheering on the cock-fight. I'm just happy to see one of them go down because it refocuses the issue of the dangers in the sport for meatheads like our video's Eric Winston. Sure, he cares now, but I can just as easily see him saying "One more play! You gotta play through head injuries like that!" ala Kurt Warner's insider info on the culture of the game.
That said, I doubt the crowd was thinking this far into it. They were probably just bloodthirsty.
Finally, Quote where I imply that risk = celebrating human suffering, from my comments.

Cyclists bike as slow as possible in a sprint race

yellowc says...

Different strokes for different folks.

I was caught in a web of suspense. The mind games and tactics are excellent to watch, arguably more interesting than the actual sprint. I mean yeah it's fun to see humans go as fast as they can but it tends to be over in 10seconds or less. The build up is the captivating part.

1. you're wrong and nothing happens other than maybe a massive DMT trip and then nothing.
2. you're right and you're god is a massive dick who's been playing passive aggressive mind games with us this whole time.

Or I am right and you've transgressed the laws of a Holy God which makes you a sinner, and the responsibility of your decisions lay squarely on your shoulders. The wages of sin are death but God sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross as a man to give you an escape clause and eternal life; He paid the price you could never pay, but unless you turn to Him and repent of your crimes, you will be judged and rightly found guilty. If you honestly think you're the result of a random firecracker that made a modified monkey, that nothing exploded and created everything, well..I just have to say that you've set the bar a little low on plausibility.

Republican's once again boldly defend our freedom (Politics Talk Post)

peggedbea says...

I come in contact with them constantly. My guess is that this has everything to do with geographic location. As of a few years ago, 26% of Texans report getting ALL of their news exclusively from decidedly right wing sources. These are the most outraged, ignorant people of all.

I do not watch television at all and I am generally fairly blissful. The only time I get unblissful is when I'm forced to interact with people who are both angry/terrified and horrifically misinformed. Or when my brain chemicals turn against me and cause me stay in bed all day and think about everything thats ever been awful ever. I suspect with a little prozac and a better ability to play dumb when confronted with obvious corporatist mind game fuckery, I'd be the happiest person on earth. My brain would sort of resemble disney world. People would vacation there with their children. We would all fall in love and garden together. We'd make dinner from the vegetables we grew. Nothing would be harmed in the creation of our consumables. And hearts would drift out of the top of our heads and float around in the air .. in the directions of our beautiful neighbors. >> ^eric3579:

My experience is that the ones who may be ignorant(just not interested) in politics, state of the world and most things outside their sphere of influence, are generally happier people. The over the top ignorant people the news networks show you, may be out there in a constant state of outrage, but I've not come into contact with them. They are not part of my everyday life. Ignorance is bliss doesn't sound as bad as I once thought. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with getting older. Just my two cents.
>> ^NetRunner:
>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:
I've been in a constant state of outrage for months now. I'm starting to envy the blissfully ignorant.

The ignorant seem to be in a constant state of outrage too.
The only blissful people seem to be the amoral ones who are able to amass power and fortune by harnessing the outrage of everyone else, and they're far from ignorant.

You cannot embed iframes. Choose "old embed code" when getting the embed code from youtube, then you can do it in your comment.

Once you've made some html that's not valid in the comment the whole thing falls down, which is why your link doesn't work too.

I'm a little peeved that they used a modified version of Quake. The openGL was not part of the original game with all it's fancy "textures." Just call me old fashioned that way. This is more than just nostalgia though, there was something majestic about non-3D-accelerated games. They never had shit framerate dips (watch doom/wolfenstien/hexen/heretic or better yet play them off of the original WAD files for proof) and I never NEVER never NEVER got lag while playing them online.

FPS never crossing my mind + ping and latency never crossing my mind = gaming bliss imho

here's a snippet of some good ole pixelated quake for my fellow nerds

Excellent. I am glad you are able to comprehend such scenario.

I find it intriguing how when someone on this site gets mad/pissy with another, they go and down vote their stuff, despite its content, as was shown by, myself, you, geo321, and a couple others. Down votes are supposed to be about the content, but all to many times people go click the down as if it hurts the other.

I don't take it seriously, I was playing with you, quiet right in fact, to blow your brain I was going to promote it as well later on today if it was not.

It would be petty of me to continue what you started.. well even more petty. But what fun that "experiment" was, within ten minutes a reaction. You may as well be talking into a mirror saying I take this seriously. you took the bait... dont seem so distant from it.

Hope your weather is nice. If you have an hour to kill I would suggest this

one. you keep egging me on
two. you downvoted my neat video about graphene outta petty spite.

Yes, I know. Betwixt your hourly furry fap sessions, it gives your life meaning to pester me via passive aggressive mind games.

Tho please.. do attempt to grow up and mature.

I mean, we could downvote every one of each other's videos in some pointless endless spiral of stupid.

Ooor.. you could act like any normal, well adjusted member/human who disagrees with another ..and move the fuck on.

Otherwise, I'll just ask Dag to step in and settle this quickly.

p.s. - I've upvoted your videos before and even did so last week.

funny thing is, you did exactly as I thought you would, well, knew you would.. you are somewhat predicable after the last time you where annoyed, you are a tit for tat sort of person, who seems fairly low on the scale of live and let live.

its crying and calling in your marrow for that aspirated upvote.
