6. Starfox
7. Out of This World
8. Super Metroid
9. F-Zero
10. Mario Kart

I find it awesome that almost all of the ones you listed made the top twenty. The problem with making this list was surely that there were just so many amazing games for the SNES.

Damn good list. Damn good. I was so hungry for Super Mario RPG that I had to buy it off ebay. I'm glad I kept my SNES rather than selling it, the games are going up in value now.

I never owned Mega Man X, but used to borrow it from a friend all the time, that I had to get the port/remake "Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X" for the PSP, which is equally awesome.

I was really worried when they had not mentioned Super Metroid till the end, which is the greatest game of all time. And if you like Super Metroid a lot like I do, then get Metriod Zero Mission for the GBA, which is equally fun, and feels slightly more dynamic.

SNES was my favourite, and the last system I bought before becoming a dedicated PC gamer. I don't consider myself above console games I just don't have time for them between PC gaming and all my other nerdy hobbies. My personal top 10 on the SNES:

1. Contra 3 - best shooter of all time
2. Street Fighter 2 - the first perfect arcade conversion
3. Castlevania 4
4. Super Mario World
5. Zelda III
6. Starfox
7. Out of This World
8. Super Metroid
9. F-Zero
10. Mario Kart

Man, what a classic system. I made a dumb call and gave my SNES and all my games to my nephews when I was 19 and they were around ten years old. It was 1995, the Playstation had already come out so they were thoroughly unimpressed. Meanwhile I have many hours since then playing with an SNES emulator.

I only noticed this comment now. It was an honest mistake, I must have mashed the d and s keys, 'cause there's no way I'd deliberately call it Metroids (I'd have the same reaction you had).

In reply to this comment by joemawlma:
how DARE you call Metroid (one of the best video games ever created), METROIDS!!!!1111onethousandonehundredeleven

Top 10 Women of Gaming

Farhad2000 says...

Samus Aran for the World.

It's not about just 'getting' off only... I mean I killed myself finishing Metroid when I was little and then finding out it's a girl? At an age when I was all like 'Let's ship all girls to a seperate island'.

Top Ten Video Game Weapons

vaterunser says...

good weapons are not only about big explosions and massive damage...
it's about how they enhance the gameplay, and how fun they are to use...

a rocket launcher can be replaced by any other weapon that makes a big boom...for me, original weapon designs like the Gravity Gun, Laptop Gun or the Ice Beam (which was original at the time Metroid was released) are much more fun to use, because you haven't used them in any game before...and they allow the developers to make puzzles only that game has...before HalfLife 2, there was no game in which you had to build platforms from barrels and trash using a gravity gun...

a rocket launcher may be fun the first time you use it, but if you used it in 20 games before, it's not exciting anymore
