Well... let's count the nails in PS3's coffin:
8- Metal Gear Solid 4 is also not an exclusive anymore.
And I'm sure there are a few more I don't even remember right now.

You sure about that?

Fanboy declares Final Fantasy XIII Is A Traitor!

This guy calls himself an expert in videogames? I'm sorry, but i'm really considering adding this to terrible... in fairness, I maynot downvote this, maybe later on...

Allow me to clarify in my own "video game knowledge"... I don't know if he is aware of this or not, but Sony hasn't had much luck as of late for keeping exclusives... The only thing that Sony has been able to hang onto was just Metal Gear Solid 4, but when you think of Devil may cry 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV these were previous titles that were once known exclusive to the PS3 but then got transfered over to the XBOX 360... Reason? Simple... Just look at the sales, heck just look at the graphs and charts... There are twice as much sales for both Microsoft and Nintendo...

Now then, if you had an exclusive game on a system that was at the bottom of the chain, what would you do?
A) Stay on the boat and hope for the best?
B) Jump ship and go to where profits can be made?
If you picked A, your taking a risky move and hoping that everything will work out for the best...
If you picked B, your giving yourself reassurance that you can rely on the other system to follow through in case one bombs and you also satify the consumer who may that one system, but not the other...

One thing this guy needs to remember is that Square-Enix is a third party company with no Allegiance to the Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony... True Square-Enix did their business with Sony since FFVII, but then as time passes by, a company can either see more potential in another system, or see that by having it available on more systems, it allows the consumer to easily pick what system to play it on and allow for more sales...

Besides, he should be happy that Final Fantasy vs XIII is still exclusive...

You're entitled to your opinion. But as counter-evidence I offer up Half-Life, Starcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-Move), Dance Dance Revolution--all made in the last 15 years, all wildly creative and wildly successful and that's just for starters. You could include more recent games like Guitar Hero and Cooking Mama or more obscure games like ChuChu Rocket and Ico, all of which took simple creative concepts and implemented them stunningly well. Yeah, there are lots of sequels but that's no different from the movie industry now is it? If people would stop buying them, the game companies would stop making them....
Just to keep the comment slightly on topic, I actually thought Halo wasn't all that creative when it first came out. Particularly the later level design (or lack thereof) in the first game since it got very repetitive. Just goes to show that sometimes a slight improvement on an old theme (FPS shooter) may still be hugely successful.

I agree that there are a good number of creative and successful games, but the massive number of successful cookie-cutter games kinda rules out creativity as a 'requirement'.

imagination hasn't been a requirement in the games industry for at least 15 years. Actually, I'd argue you've got a better chance without it. Publishers don't need their sequel assembly line getting clogged up with original ideas.

Zero Punctuation Review - Metal Gear Solid 4

He didn't say he hated Planescape: Torment, he just disliked the excessive text dialog.

Incidentally, I myself found Yahtzee's own Chzo Mythos series to be much more engaging and better written than the entire MGS series. (Excluding Metal Gear 1 and 2, which were straightforward and simple.)

Y'know, as a game, I could not be less interested in Metal Gear Solid.
But its quirkiness and willingness to completely eviscerate the fourth
wall gives it a thumbs up in my book.. I was watching my brother play
it and found the cut scenes and bits of its humor to be highly
entertaining.
As for these EA battlefield games. Ehn. Most of
their attempts to inject some soul into this franchise seem very
artificial... I mean, I played 2142 a little with roomates, but
everything just seemed so generic and lifeless.
And they're
also developing a 'wacky cartoon' version of a wargame for the
franchise as well. Wonder where they could have gotten that bit of
inspiration from..

I agree. EA is all about re-hashing and spitting out games with no regard to quality, replayability, and support. They have produced quite a few games that could've been GREAT, but fell terribly short by buggy games filled with exploits and laughable mistakes.

The metal gear series isnt the bestest thing ever produced either, but it is well produced, extremely thought-out, and very entertaining. Hideo Kojima's work has been and will be copied for years to come.

This makes no sense. The exclamation point NEVER appears above Solid Snake, only above regular soldiers. Also, David Hayter doesn't scream like that. Solid Snake is also far too resilient to be destroyed with one shot.
But most importantly, Solid Snake is the only Metal Gear character who hides in a barrel, but he doesn't have an eyepatch. Big Boss and Solidus Snake had eyepatches, but they never hid in barrels.

If I could add a comment to a channel, this would be * geek for sure.

Unfortunately, I have to admit, I was thinking the same thing myself.
