French Woman Racially Abused on Melbourne Bus
He had a fucking knife. I'm very cautious in proclaiming any hypotheticals. I'd like to think i'd at least let her know I wouldn't let anyone hurt her, but getting mouthy with a nutbag would only inflame the situation. >> ^ChaosEngine:

Scum. Sub-human scum.
Absolutely.
And I know it's easy to say this as a keyboard warrior, but I'm genuinely shocked that no-one stood up for her.
I hope if I'm ever in that situation I'd have the decency to punch that racist asshole.

Then when they back away from the data retention bullshit, they may win back the votes of the tech-savvy under 40s...

Thanks for the heads up mate. Nice to see it became an issue big enough to choke Conroy...

Still not perfect, but a step in the right direction.

@star69 - equating the act of a no-name comedian at a union event with the career-long actions of Tony Abbott is pathetic.
How has Gillard taken Australia 'so far backwards'?
Also, you would be able to downvote if you actually contributed something to this community.
I'm pretty sure he's referring to Gillard's comments re: libs attending the Allen Jones speech, castigating them for not getting up and leaving... In which case, the situations are analogous.
Data retention?
Compulsory internet filtering?
Two policies that forever damn Labor in my eyes. Two policies Gillard has not canned or dropped. I keep hoping Malcolm Turnbull get's up as leader of the opposition and wins the next election, but Abbott hasn't committed to pushing the fascist nanny state yet so I'll roll the dice on him...

So, avoid disappointment, aim low? Does America compare itself with those countries? I thought it was a developed nation. You do provide me with entertainment, I'll give you that.>> ^A10anis:

Ah, no: "The United States has the highest rate of gun related injuries (not deaths per capita) among developed countries, though they also have the highest rate of gun ownership and highest rate of officers."

Americans have a habit of shooting people in general.
What a stupid, crass, crude, comment. Or did I miss that you pressed the sarcasm button?
Statistics are limited and can be misleading in showing the big picture. Would you feel safer in Colombia, South Africa, Brazil, Somalia or Russia? (rated the most dangerous countries on earth) Check out their figures on crime and, if you still feel they offer a safer environment in which to live, feel free to visit them.
I'm pleased you are so easily entertained, though that was not my intent. It was, actually, to point out that making silly generalizations was pointless. Anyway, like my wife, I'm pretty sure you will need to have the last word, even though you have nothing rational to say. I'm done.
